About the Role
National Medical Care is seeking a Senior Registrar in Internal Medicine to join their team in Makkah. This full-time position requires 2-5 years of experience and involves providing comprehensive patient care while adhering to established medical standards and hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure high-quality medical treatment, compassion, and understanding for all patients at NMC Hospitals and Clinics.
- Perform history-taking, physical examinations, and interpret common diagnostic tests, documenting patient conditions upon admission as per JCIA/CBAHI standards, especially when a registrar is unavailable or advised by the Head of Department.
- Provide patient care within the scope of professional competence and clinical privileges.
- Admit patients from hospital facilities (*, OPD) independently or as determined by the HOD in consultation with a consultant.
- Evaluate new admissions and coordinate investigation plans to establish diagnoses and management courses, with or without consultant assistance as determined by the HOD.
- Conduct daily ward rounds for all inpatients in the department, either independently or as part of a team, as determined by the HOD.
- Document patient management plans legibly and accurately, maintaining appropriate and timely records.
- Seek consultant advice or help when a patient's condition requires further expertise.
- Prepare discharge summaries, death reports, and special patient reports when a registrar is unavailable or advised by the Head of Department.
- Present new admissions through daily morning reports when on duty and a registrar is unavailable.
- Actively participate in the department's on-call rota for patient care and admissions, responding to emergencies and offering medical care related to the specialty.
- Participate in the delivery of medical care in outpatient services (*, * and independently as determined by the HOD.
- Assist senior staff (Consultants) in performing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures within the specialty.
- Supervise junior staff in their designated duties and responsibilities.
- Actively participate in departmental educational and training activities.
- Rotate through specialized inpatient units (ICU, CCU, Hemodialysis, etc.) if needed, under the supervision of the Senior Staff Member in-charge.
- Adhere to department policies and procedures, as well as hospital by-laws, rules, and regulations.
- Educate patients and families according to their needs, implementing the full role regarding patient/family education processes, including documentation in medical records.
- Involve patients and families in the plan of care, respecting their goals and choices.
- Provide health promotion and teaching through methods appropriate to a patient’s developmental level, learning needs, readiness, ability to learn, language preference, culture, and situations.
- Allocate necessary time to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient education, ensuring appropriate documentation.
- Perform administrative, organizational, or other tasks as assigned by the Head of the Department.
- Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee's knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Professional Standards
The Senior Registrar is responsible for maintaining a high level of professional performance in accordance with:
- Evidenced-based medicine principles.
- Professional medical ethics and CBAHI/JCIA standards.
- Hospital medical by-laws.
- Laws of the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and any other applicable regulations according to the departmental quality plan.
Required Experience
Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in Internal Medicine.
Collaboration and Supervision
This role involves close collaboration with all physicians, nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, patients, and their families. The Senior Registrar will also supervise Registrars, Residents, Nurses, and other paramedical staff assigned to them.
