About the Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Director of Engineering for its property in Medina, Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah. This full-time position requires a professional with extensive experience in property maintenance and engineering management.

Role Overview

The Director of Engineering will oversee the maintenance of multiple buildings, grounds, and the physical plant, with a strong emphasis on safety, security, and asset protection. This role is accountable for managing budgets, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance programs, and energy conservation initiatives. The objective is to develop and implement strategies that deliver services meeting or exceeding guest and employee expectations while maximizing financial performance, ensuring compliance with all standards and regulatory requirements. The position also leads the emergency response team for all facility-related issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
• Administer service contracts to support property needs and ensure fire crew has a complete understanding of all procedures, equipment, and alarms.
• Coach and support the engineering leadership team in effectively managing controllable expenses such as wages, utilities, supplies, and vendor agreements.
• Develop and manage the Engineering operating strategy and budgets, ensuring alignment with the property's business strategy and integration of departmental goals.
• Oversee the execution of long-term preventative maintenance and asset protection plans.
• Review financial reports to monitor performance against budget, address potential concerns, and propose solutions proactively.
• Supervise construction projects to ensure timely completion within budgetary guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal regulations, and maintain property life safety systems.
• Ensure building and equipment licenses, permits, and certifications are current.
• Manage departmental operations to budget by reviewing operating statements, budget worksheets, and payroll reports.
• Monitor and manage payroll functions and controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
• Participate in the development and management of capital expenditure projects and the budgeting process.
• Prepare weekly and period-end P&L critiques and understand the impact of departmental operations on overall property financial goals.
• Ensure employees are treated fairly and equitably, and that disciplinary procedures are followed.
• Utilize employee feedback and an "open door" policy to address concerns and resolve guest problems.
• Ensure regular communication within the engineering operation to convey daily activities, set expectations, and communicate business objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or GED with 6 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related professional area, including technical training in HVAC-R/Electrical/Plumbing.
• OR a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related major, with 4 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related professional area, including technical training in HVAC-R/Electrical/Plumbing.
• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience is required for this role.
