Valleysoft | Center of Excellence is an IT services provider that delivers enterprise technology solutions, software development, process management, and infrastructure services to clients globally. Operating within the Information Technology and Services sector, the company supports organizations with the systems, integrations, and platforms essential for critical operations. This full-time role for an API Connect Developer is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and requires 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Role Overview and Contribution

The API Connect Developer will contribute to enterprise API initiatives focused on connecting applications, data, and services across complex environments. This position is central to building reliable, secure, and well-governed integration solutions. The successful candidate will partner with architects, developers, QA, infrastructure, security, and DevOps teams to ensure high-quality delivery and sustained platform performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, configure, and maintain APIs using IBM API Connect.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs based on business and technical requirements.
  • Manage the full API lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, versioning, and retirement.
  • Configure API Gateway policies for authentication, authorization, security, rate limiting, throttling, routing, and traffic management.
  • Implement API security using OAuth , JWT, TLS/SSL, and related mechanisms.
  • Develop and maintain API definitions using OpenAPI and Swagger.
  • Configure API products, plans, applications, subscriptions, and consumer access.
  • Support and maintain the API Developer Portal and API publishing processes.
  • Integrate APIs with backend applications, databases, middleware platforms, and external systems.
  • Work with REST, SOAP, HTTP/HTTPS, JSON, and XML.
  • Troubleshoot API connectivity, security, performance, and integration issues.
  • Monitor API performance, traffic, errors, and availability.
  • Support API deployments across Development, UAT, and Production environments.
  • Participate in API testing, defect resolution, and production support.
  • Collaborate with solution architects, application developers, QA, infrastructure, security, and DevOps teams.
  • Prepare and maintain API specifications, technical documentation, deployment documents, and support procedures.
  • Participate in code and design reviews and follow established API development and governance standards.
  • Support production incidents and resolve API-related issues.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • 5-10 years of strong practical experience in API management, API development, and enterprise integration, specifically with IBM API Connect (APIC). This includes API design, development, configuration, security policies, lifecycle management, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience designing and developing REST APIs, with strong knowledge of OpenAPI / Swagger.
  • Proficiency in configuring API Gateway policies, including routing, authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and throttling.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement API security using OAuth , JWT, and TLS/SSL.
  • Experience integrating APIs with enterprise applications, databases, and middleware, and working with HTTP/HTTPS, SOAP web services, JSON, and XML for enterprise and legacy system integration.
  • Experience with API lifecycle management across Development, UAT, and Production environments, including versioning, publishing, deployment, retirement, testing, defect resolution, and production deployment support.
  • Familiarity with established API design and security standards, participation in secure API design or review processes, adherence to enterprise development standards, and support for structured release and change-management processes.

Language and Availability

  • Good to very good written and spoken English for technical documentation, API specifications, technical discussions, troubleshooting, and collaboration with technical teams.
  • Good to very good written and spoken Arabic for communication and coordination with local Saudi stakeholders and teams.
  • Availability during Saudi Arabia business hours is required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with IBM DataPower, IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) / IIB, or IBM Cloud Pak for Integration (CP4I).
  • Experience with Kafka or event-driven integration.
  • Experience in the Banking or Financial Services sector.
