About the Role

PwC Middle East is seeking an Assurance External Audit Manager with a focus on the Banking sector to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position is part of a global professional services network with a significant presence in the Middle East, dedicated to creating lasting value through Assurance, Tax, and Advisory services.

Role Context and Contribution

As an Audit Manager, you will oversee a portfolio of clients, managing the complete audit cycle from initiation to completion. You will collaborate within a team of problem solvers to address complex business challenges, applying deep technical expertise and advanced digital tools to deliver high-quality audits. The role involves providing independent assurance over financial reporting, helping clients meet regulatory requirements, enhance transparency, and strengthen stakeholder confidence.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage client portfolios, overseeing day-to-day client liaison and technical issue resolution.
  • Engage in business development activities, identifying and researching opportunities with new and existing clients, and building strong client relationships.
  • Develop strategies to address complex technical challenges and contribute to the technical development of yourself and your team.
  • Manage and deliver large projects, ensuring adherence to key deadlines.
  • Take charge of designing audit strategies and managing audit execution in alignment with engagement leader guidance.
  • Advise clients on financial reporting and regulatory developments, staying current with changes through continuous learning.
  • Manage client relations with senior management, including delivering presentations to boards of directors and audit committees.
  • Ensure compliance with risk, quality, and independence standards.
  • Maintain awareness of local and national business and economic issues.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members, prioritizing their well-being.
  • Promote the adoption of digital initiatives and audit transformation technologies to enhance audit robustness.
  • Participate in the recruitment process, interviewing and selecting candidates according to PwC hiring standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A degree in accounting, finance, or a related academic field.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of professional experience in external financial audit, preferably within a Big 4 firm.
  • Completion of a recognized professional qualification such as ACCA, CA, ACA, or CPA.
  • Recent and demonstrable experience in auditing Banking clients is essential.
  • Proficiency in applying International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) to the external audit of financial services, with profound IFRS knowledge relevant to the FS practice (*, IFRS 9, IFRS 17) and financial services regulations.
  • Strong project management skills and experience managing audits from planning through to completion.
  • Ability to establish and nurture positive relationships internally and externally across all levels.
  • Experience fostering a collaborative team environment that encourages constructive challenge and effective issue resolution.
