About the Backend Engineer Role at Neoleap

Neoleap is seeking a Backend Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time position for professionals with 2-5 years of relevant experience. The role focuses on developing robust and scalable backend services within a microservices architecture.

Core Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot within a microservices architecture.
• Own the end-to-end delivery of complex features, from technical design through to production deployment.
• Design and optimize database interactions, system integrations, and inter-service communication.
• Build and operate event-driven flows utilizing Kafka and enterprise messaging solutions.

System Integrity and Performance

• Ensure that developed solutions meet stringent requirements for security, performance, availability, and maintainability.
• Apply secure coding practices consistently for authentication, authorization, encryption, and the handling of sensitive data.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement durable, effective fixes.

Engineering Practices and Improvement

• Conduct thorough code reviews and uphold high engineering standards across the development squad.
• Contribute to technical design decisions and the overall application architecture.
• Identify technical debt and actively drive improvements to design and code quality.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment processes, and observability on OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms.

Collaboration and Professional Development

The Backend Engineer will work collaboratively within a team environment, contributing to shared knowledge and best practices. This includes mentoring junior engineers and facilitating knowledge sharing across the engineering chapter.
