About the Baker Lead Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts in Riyadh is seeking a skilled Baker Lead to oversee the preparation of a variety of baked goods. This full-time position requires a candidate with 2-5 years of relevant experience, ready to contribute to a dynamic culinary team.

Core Responsibilities

The Baker Lead will be responsible for the end-to-end preparation of breads and pastries. This includes preparing doughs and fillings, managing proofing processes, baking items to perfection, and applying appropriate decorations. Daily tasks involve reviewing production sheets to understand the variety of baked goods required, preparing and cooking food according to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines. Safe and appropriate use of baking tools, equipment, and appliances is essential.

Kitchen Operations and Compliance

Maintaining kitchen logs for food safety program compliance is a key duty. The Baker Lead will keep the Chef informed of excess food items to aid in planning daily specials. Adherence to and enforcement of food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene, is mandatory. This role also involves checking and ensuring correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, reporting any issues to management, and monitoring the quality of food prepared and portions served throughout the shift.

Team Leadership and Support

Assisting management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees is part of the role, serving as a role model for the team. The Baker Lead is expected to develop and maintain positive working relationships, support team goals, and handle sensitive issues with tact and confidentiality. This position also involves acting as a department role model or mentor.

Qualifications and Physical Requirements

Candidates should possess a Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree and have at least 2 years of related work experience. While this role involves leadership responsibilities, direct supervisory experience is not required. The position requires the ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance. The role also demands the ability to move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces, reach overhead and below the knees, and stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.

General Workplace Conduct

All employees are expected to follow company policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols, and report any accidents, injuries, or unsafe working conditions. Maintaining a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance is required. Confidentiality of proprietary information and protection of company assets are essential. Communication should be clear and professional, and telephone etiquette must be followed. Compliance with quality expectations and standards is paramount. Other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors may be performed.
