The Role of BIM Designer & CAD Specialist

Schindler Group is seeking a BIM Designer & CAD Specialist to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves developing and coordinating 3D models for elevator and escalator equipment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications, and managing 2D documentation. The specialist will play a key role in integrating BIM workflows with site conditions and maintaining AutoCAD standards for various projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop high-accuracy 3D elevator and escalator equipment models using Autodesk Revit, based on sold equipment specifications.
  • Evaluate customer-provided IFC architectural/structural models against equipment models and perform spatial coordination checks to identify and resolve clashes.
  • Coordinate directly with site engineers to align model data with real-world site conditions, structural constraints, and civil openings.
  • Extract and generate precise 2D construction and installation drawings directly from finalized 3D Revit models.
  • Execute daily 2D layout creation and technical drawing modifications in AutoCAD for non-BIM related works and projects.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a Technical Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a highly related technical drafting discipline.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience, with a minimum of 5 to 7 years of continuous, hands-on 3D modeling experience using Autodesk Revit.
  • Strong practical knowledge of elevators and escalators, including structural clearances, shaft requirements, and mechanical/electrical connection points.
  • Essential prior experience working with vertical transportation equipment within a BIM environment.
  • Advanced, continuous operational proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting and layout design.
  • Strong understanding of IFC file structures, cross-platform model sharing, and collaborative spatial coordination work.

Required Skills

  • Process-Oriented: Methodical approach to handling engineering modifications, checking data compliance, and managing version control.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborative mindset with a proven ability to work seamlessly alongside site engineers, project managers, and client design teams.
  • Efficiency: Exceptionally organized and driven to deliver highly accurate drafts under tight project deadlines.
  • Adaptability: Eager to continuously keep pace with updated BIM standards, software extensions, and product specifications.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written capabilities to translate technical spatial issues into clear solutions for cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-Solving & Attention to Detail: Sharp analytical mindset to proactively spot overlapping elements or structural inconsistencies before they affect physical installation.

Requirements

  • Requires 5-10 Years experience
