CLINICAL PERFUSIONIST

About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh is seeking a Clinical Perfusionist. This full-time role involves the setup and operation of extracorporeal circulation equipment to support patient heart and lung functions during surgery or respiratory failure. The Perfusionist will also provide other specialized technologies within the Perfusion Services department at the Heart Centre.

Key Responsibilities

• Review patient medical history to gather necessary information for setting up cardiopulmonary bypass machines and associated equipment.
• Select, assemble, set up, and test cardiopulmonary bypass machines to ensure proper function according to specifications.
• Operate cardiopulmonary bypass machines to maintain blood circulation, administer drugs and anesthetic agents, and control body temperature during surgery or respiratory failure.
• Monitor the operation of cardiopulmonary bypass machines and patient physiological variables such as blood temperature, composition, and flow rate. Adjust equipment to maintain normal body functions and troubleshoot related perfusion technology.
• Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of heart/lung machines and ancillary perfusion services equipment.
• Provide extracorporeal long-term life support for both adult and pediatric surgical/medical patients, including operating, managing, and troubleshooting related technology.
• Provide Assist Devices to surgical/medical patients, including operating, managing, and troubleshooting related technology.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in clinical perfusion. The role requires a strong understanding of extracorporeal circulation equipment and related medical technologies.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in operating and managing cardiopulmonary bypass machines.
• Ability to monitor patient physiological variables and adjust equipment as needed.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for perfusion technology.
• Competence in routine maintenance and calibration of medical equipment.
• Capability to provide long-term life support and operate assist devices for diverse patient populations.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh. The Clinical Perfusionist will work within the Heart Centre, providing critical support to surgical and medical patients.
