Bechtel Corporation is managing the infrastructure program for Expo 2030 Riyadh, a global platform for collaboration under the theme “Foresight for Tomorrow.” The Expo, scheduled from October 2030 to March 2031, anticipates over 40 million visits. The project involves a 6 km2 Masterplan for participation and infrastructure, including early works, utilities, and public spaces. The scope will transition into a mixed-use legacy development after the event, adhering to international sustainability standards.

Role Summary

As a Construction Engineer Mechanical, you will provide essential construction support, focusing on work planning, material management, and quality control. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and requires 5-10 years of experience. Your contributions will ensure that construction activities are executed safely, completed to specifications, and conform to all quality standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist construction supervision in planning construction methods and procedures.
• Coordinate engineering or construction problems with the Senior Construction Engineer and/or Construction Manager.
• Identify and report construction quality, safety, and schedule issues to the responsible Construction Manager.
• Monitor site activities to ensure works are performed safely and compliantly.
• Interpret design engineering drawings and ensure contractor compliance with issued construction drawings, including temporary facilities and field sketches for revisions, additions, and "as-built" drawing preparation.
• Review design drawings, study interference problems, and review related vendor drawings and installation instructions.
• Review estimated quantities and material takeoffs for field purchases submitted by the contractor, reporting discrepancies to the supervisor.
• Assist in coordinating vendor material deliveries, material storage, expediting, and engineering reports related to the schedule.
• Follow and ensure projections and schedules for manpower, material, and equipment requirements.
• Review and stay informed on field change notices, extra work orders, and back charge notices.
• Attend daily/weekly coordination and progress meetings with the Contractor.
• Collaborate on and compile daily reports for submission to the Senior Construction Engineer and Construction Manager.
• Review Method Statements and safety submittals for Safe Systems of Work procedures.
• Assist the Senior Construction Engineer/Construction Manager with interface and stakeholder management.
• Maintain a zero-accident policy on site with the contractor through regular participation in and audit of client health and safety programs.
• Monitor the installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings and specifications.

Required Experience and Skills

• 5-10 years of experience in construction engineering, specifically in mechanical disciplines.
• Proficiency in work planning and packaging, material management, and quantity verification.
• Strong understanding of safety and quality control procedures.
• Knowledge of technical inspection and testing.
• Ability to coordinate system turnover effectively.
• Experience in interpreting design engineering drawings and ensuring contractor compliance.

Work Environment and Conditions

This role operates within a dynamic project environment. Work will be undertaken on a 24-hour, 7-day per week basis, requiring night shifts and weekend work to support project delivery.
