Senior Cost Engineer for the Ar Rjum Project

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Senior Cost Engineer to join the team for the Ar Rjum Project in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves preparing cost forecasts, reviewing cost trends, and implementing project requirements for effective cost control. The position requires detailed analysis to provide solutions to complex cost engineering challenges within a significant greenfield development.

Project Overview: The Ar Rjum Gold Project

The Ar Rjum Project is a greenfield gold development located within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh, and about 26 km south of Al Mouwayh. The project encompasses three open pit mining operations, associated waste dumps and ore stockpiles, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and extensive supporting infrastructure. This infrastructure includes water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, and both temporary and permanent accommodation villages.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cost budgets and ensure accurate cost and cashflow forecasts, utilizing the change management system.
• Perform ongoing cost and cash flow analysis to support project financial oversight.
• Monitor the progress of contractors, verify monthly incurred costs, and prepare monthly accruals.
• Provide comprehensive variance analysis for cost and progress discrepancies.
• Ensure all approved trends and changes are accurately incorporated into the overall project Estimate at Completion (EAC) and budget for both cost and quantities.
• Prepare routine performance reports and conduct special studies related to assigned scope for presentation to project, corporate, and/or customer management teams.
• Maintain open communication channels with other organizations to support cost engineering analysis and control activities effectively.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 12-15 years of experience in a cost engineering role or similar capacity.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate cost forecasts and review cost trends.
• Proficiency in implementing project requirements for cost control and managing change systems.
• Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve cost engineering challenges.
