About the Role
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority is seeking a dedicated Customs Investigation Specialist to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time role is central to executing customs investigation activities related to smuggling cases that fall outside the scope of administrative resolution.
Role Purpose and Impact
The primary purpose of this position is to assess seizure reports, verify evidence, and meticulously prepare complete case files for escalation to relevant authorities. The specialist ensures all investigative actions adhere strictly to established laws, procedures, and operational standards, contributing directly to the enforcement of customs regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Review seizure reports and supporting documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Analyze case facts and available evidence to confirm the occurrence of violations based on defined investigation methodologies.
- Assess and document preliminary criminal liability and prepare structured case findings.
- Prepare comprehensive case files and supporting documentation required for referral to Public Prosecution.
- Conduct suspect interviews, record statements, and ensure suspects are informed of their legal rights in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure timely notification to Public Prosecution upon incident occurrence, in line with defined protocols.
- Prepare formal requests for initiating customs criminal proceedings and submit them for review and approval.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all investigation activities and documentation.
Collaboration and Case Management
- Coordinate effectively with internal stakeholders, including legal, operations, and compliance teams, to fulfill all case requirements.
- Identify any missing information or gaps in case documentation and actively follow up to ensure completeness.
- Escalate complex or unclear cases to higher authority with proper justification and supporting analysis.
- Contribute to maintaining continuous compliance with internal policies, procedures, and audit requirements.
Required Experience
Candidates for this position should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in customs investigations or a related field. This experience should demonstrate a strong understanding of investigative methodologies, legal procedures, and compliance standards within a customs or regulatory environment.
