About the Role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Data Center Facility Engineer (Electrical) to join our growing operations in Riyadh. This full-time role is hands-on and focused on the operation and maintenance of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure within AWS data centers. You will be instrumental in ensuring the continuous availability and performance of the cloud services our customers rely on.

Role Context

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As part of this team, you will contribute to maintaining the high standards of safety, security, and operational efficiency required to support AWS data centers. This role emphasizes a process-oriented approach to managing complex facility systems and ensuring operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and promote world-class safety standards and culture within the facility.
  • Ensure the remediation of safety risks and issues in collaboration with other teams.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment, including Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Generators, and Transformers.
  • Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC and exhaust fans.
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within established service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Perform root cause analysis for equipment failures.
  • Contribute to innovation initiatives aimed at reducing operational costs.

Daily Operations and Maintenance

Your daily activities will involve:

  • Performing routine operational checks and logging data for mechanical and electrical equipment, such as temperatures, voltages, and currents.
  • Supervising contractors during servicing and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Responding to on-call rotations for emergency calls outside of regular duty hours.

Work Schedule and Environment

This role operates on a rotational shift schedule of 4 days on (12-hour shifts, including days and nights) followed by 4 days off. This schedule may include nights, weekends, and holidays. The work environment requires the ability to perform tasks with or without reasonable accommodation, which may include occasionally moving materials, working in outdoor weather conditions, in noisy environments, and at heights or from ladders.
