Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to deliver projects and redefine ambition. The company is a delivery partner for a major program in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This large-scale, mixed-use development includes sports facilities, entertainment venues, and arts complexes, alongside all associated infrastructure. Mace requires experienced professionals to lead integrated teams throughout each phase of this project.

The Role of Design Compliance Manager - Landscape

Mace is seeking a Design Compliance Manager - Landscape to support a significant program currently in its construction phase. Operating within the engineer's team, this role provides independent landscape design assurance and compliance oversight. The manager ensures that all landscape and public realm works are delivered in accordance with the approved design, employer’s requirements, and applicable codes and standards, thereby protecting design intent and maintaining quality standards during construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide independent review, verification, and approval of landscape design and construction deliverables as part of the engineer’s team.
  • Lead landscape design compliance during construction, ensuring all works align with approved IFC drawings, specifications, planting strategies, and employer’s requirements.
  • Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, planting schedules, mock-ups, RFIs, and landscape construction details.
  • Provide site-based assurance of landscape installations, including hardscape, softscape, streetscape, public realm, irrigation systems, water features, and specialist landscape elements.
  • Ensure adherence to design intent, aesthetics, functionality, and quality standards, particularly for high-profile public realm and landscape environments.
  • Identify and manage design deviations, non-compliance, and technical risks, driving resolution with contractors, landscape architects, and design consultants.
  • Review and verify landscape materials, planting selections, irrigation systems, and external finishes for compliance with performance, sustainability, and maintenance requirements.
  • Support the issuance of engineer’s instructions, approvals, and design compliance certifications in line with contractual requirements.
  • Interface with contractors, supervision teams, and consultants to ensure clear interpretation and execution of landscape design requirements on site.
  • Support authority inspections, approvals, and statutory compliance processes related to landscape and public realm works.
  • Participate in mock-ups, sample approvals, inspections, snagging, and handover activities, ensuring delivery meets required quality, operational, and maintenance standards.
  • Monitor the establishment and quality of planting works, ensuring successful implementation and achievement of design objectives.
  • Provide reporting on landscape design compliance status, risks, and construction progress to senior stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively towards net zero carbon transition goals, sharing responsibility for proactive identification and management of associated carbon emissions and reductions.

Candidate Profile and Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of proven experience managing design delivery on large-scale or master-planned developments.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary coordination and consultant management.
  • Relevant work experience on high-value projects/programs for a project management consultancy business.
  • Ability to meet necessary visa criteria for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is required for immigration and client approval.
