Director of Mine Development and Exploration

About the Role

Rubisco Advisory is seeking a Director of Mine Development and Exploration for a full-time position in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role is with a well-capitalized mining owner focused on a precious- and base-metals exploration project. The Director will be responsible for advancing the asset from early exploration through feasibility studies and into active construction.

Role Overview

The Project Director will integrate geological and technical teams, evaluate development alternatives, and ensure commercial discipline as the project progresses. This position involves moving the project through scoping, pre-feasibility (PFS), and bankable feasibility (BFS) studies. The Director will manage a multidisciplinary team, including a Chief Geologist and Senior Geologists, with the objective of transitioning from exploration and feasibility to building and delivering a major mining operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the overall project, ensuring alignment with company objectives and stage-gated investment decisions.
• Evaluate development alternatives, including open-pit versus underground mining, processing options, throughput capacities, and emerging technologies.
• Advance the project through study phases (Scoping, PFS, BFS), ensuring project economics and technical viability.
• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary technical team in a remote and culturally diverse setting.

Qualifications and Experience

• A demonstrated track record of taking mining projects from early-stage exploration through scoping, PFS, and BFS.
• Exposure to eventual project development or operations is highly desirable.
• Significant experience with gold and/or polymetallic deposits.
• Over 10 years of relevant experience.

Candidate Profile

• Previous experience operating in the Middle East is highly advantageous.
• Comfortable working in remote environments and demonstrating strong cultural awareness.
• Motivated by exploration, discovery, and the challenge of building a mining project from the ground up.

Work Environment

This position involves working with a well-financed, Tier-1 organization. The role requires leadership of a multidisciplinary team in a remote and culturally diverse setting, focusing on a greenfield project in Saudi Arabia.
