The Role of Echo Specialist

National Medical Care is seeking a dedicated Echo Specialist for a full-time position in Riyadh. This role is central to performing comprehensive echocardiographic studies, providing preliminary interpretations, and serving as a technical expert in cardiac ultrasound imaging. The specialist ensures superior quality of medical treatment and understanding for every patient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform M-Mode and 2-dimensional echocardiograms for adults and children.
  • Conduct complex transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms.
  • Execute specialized studies including 3D/4D echo, contrast studies, and strain imaging.
  • Perform stress echocardiograms and pharmacological stress tests.
  • Provide ICU bedside echocardiography services.
  • Obtain high-quality cardiac images and measurements, following established scanning protocols.
  • Provide preliminary interpretations and measurements, recognizing critical findings for immediate physician notification.
  • Perform comprehensive hemodynamic assessments and evaluate complex congenital and acquired heart disease.

Patient Care and Operational Support

  • Assess patients of various conditions and ages, considering their physical and physiological needs.
  • Explain procedures to patients, obtain consent, and position them for optimal imaging results.
  • Monitor patient comfort and vital signs throughout procedures.
  • Educate patients and families according to their needs and document the education process in medical records.
  • Process and maintain records of all results, performing all required written documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems and artifacts, performing minor repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment as needed.
  • Maintain departmental inventory of necessary materials and supplies.

Professional Standards and Development

  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain MOH and CBAHI accreditation standards.
  • Participate in continuing education to stay current with best practices.
  • Mentor and train junior technologists and students.
  • Organize the rota for coverage within the department.
  • Perform additional duties as directed or assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Experience

Candidates for the Echo Specialist position should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in performing echocardiographic studies and cardiac ultrasound imaging.
