The Role of Engineering Manager I

Tamara is seeking an Engineering Manager I to join one of its core engineering teams in Riyadh. This role is central to leading a team responsible for developing and enhancing the company's payment solutions. The Engineering Manager I will guide their team in building and owning a significant segment of the platform, ensuring the delivery of high-quality features that contribute to Tamara's unique customer experiences. The role involves leading a focused team of 4-6 engineers (Backend, Frontend, QA) and close collaboration with designers, analysts, and product experts.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspire and motivate a team of 4-6 engineers, providing clear direction aligned with company vision and strategy.
• Foster an environment of trust, feedback, and strong ownership within the team.
• Develop talent through ongoing coaching, mentoring, and providing challenging growth opportunities.
• Provide candid and constructive feedback, conduct effective 1:1s, and assess performance to attract, develop, and retain engineering talent.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the team's software architecture and provide technical direction.
• Facilitate technical decision-making in collaboration with senior engineers and drive quality practices, including code reviews and testing.
• Support the adoption of engineering best practices such as CI/CD and observability.
• Plan and manage team execution to deliver on roadmap commitments, breaking down complex topics into manageable tasks.
• Identify and communicate risks to stakeholders early, working actively to mitigate them.
• Account for the team's on-time delivery and refine team-level processes to improve effectiveness and align with organizational goals.
• Partner with Product and business leadership to influence product strategy and align technical goals with product priorities.
• Collaborate with other Engineering Managers and the architecture board to ensure consistency and shared learning.
