About the Role

Abdul Latif Jameel Company Limited is seeking a General Accounting Specialist/Accountant for a full-time position in Riyadh. This role plays a critical part in monitoring and controlling cash flow management, budget control, and ensuring adherence to accounting standards and regulations within the organization.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

The General Accounting Specialist/Accountant will be responsible for several key financial functions. This includes assisting in the preparation of management accounts, fund flow statements, and the annual budget. The role involves managing suspense accounts to identify operational anomalies and coordinating with external and internal auditors by providing necessary financial records and data. A significant aspect of the role is the monthly financial closing of accounts, including the analysis of income-related accounts to ensure fairness and accuracy in financial reporting to department and corporate management. The position also supervises the Accountant and Cashier in performing monthly cash reconciliations and balance sheet accounts control.

Key Accountabilities and Activities

• Assist in the preparation of management accounts, fund flow statement, and annual budget.
• Manage suspense accounts to inform Accounts Managers of operational anomalies.
• Coordinate with External and Internal Auditors by providing financial records, data, and information.
• Coordinate monthly financial closing of accounts and analyze income-related accounts.
• Supervise Accountant and Cashier in performing monthly cash reconciliations and balance sheet accounts control.
• Review the preparation of final accounts and journal vouchers, and scrutinize ledger accounts for correctness.
• Compile and collect financial data for corporate tax reporting in compliance with government requirements and accounting principles.

Budget and Compliance Oversight

This role has a direct impact on achieving business budget targets through the control of monthly and annual reporting. Key accountabilities include annual budget control, adherence to the reporting schedule, and ensuring the quality and accuracy of reports. The position is also responsible for compliance with regulations and Abdul Latif Jameel policies. The job holder is expected to manage the business travel itinerary within budget constraints and ensure adherence to travel regulations, communicating any updates to management and associates.

Team Development and Performance Management

The job holder is responsible for developing subordinates through on-the-job training and performance monitoring. This includes conducting performance discussions with subordinates to establish associate development and performance awareness. Furthermore, the role involves mentoring and developing associates, ensuring they are provided with opportunities for development, and that career paths and succession plans are charted out through succession/progression development interventions.

Qualifications and Experience

The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in accounting or a related field. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting standards and regulations, with the ability to manage financial reporting, budget control, and cash flow monitoring effectively.
