About the Head of General Insurance Role

Allied Cooperative Insurance Group (ACIG) is seeking a Head of General Insurance (Underwriting & Claims) to lead its General Insurance technical operations. This full-time position, based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, focuses on strengthening underwriting discipline, enhancing claims performance, and driving sustainable portfolio profitability.

Purpose and Strategic Leadership

This role provides strategic and operational leadership across all General Insurance underwriting and claims activities. The Head of General Insurance will ensure effective risk selection, appropriate pricing strategies, and efficient claims management. A core focus will be on maintaining portfolio profitability and ensuring full compliance with ACIG policies and the regulatory requirements set by the Saudi Insurance Authority.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee General Insurance underwriting and claims operations.
• Develop and implement underwriting and claims strategies aligned with company objectives and risk appetite.
• Ensure effective risk assessment, selection, pricing, policy terms, and underwriting controls across all General Insurance lines.
• Monitor portfolio performance, premium growth, loss ratios, claims trends, and profitability, initiating corrective actions as needed.
• Oversee claims management to ensure fair, accurate, and timely assessment and settlement of claims.
• Establish and maintain appropriate underwriting authorities, guidelines, claims controls, and operating procedures.
• Collaborate with Reinsurance to ensure appropriate risk retention, capacity, and protection.
• Work with Sales and Broker Relationship teams to support profitable business growth while maintaining underwriting discipline.
• Monitor large and complex risks and claims, providing technical guidance on significant cases.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable insurance standards.
• Prepare technical and portfolio performance reports for senior management.
• Lead, coach, and develop General Insurance underwriting and claims teams to strengthen technical capability and performance.

Interdepartmental Collaboration

The Head of General Insurance will work closely with various internal functions, including Sales, Reinsurance, Actuarial, Risk Management, and Finance. This collaboration is essential to ensure that business growth is supported by sound technical practices and effective management of insurance risks across the organization.

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for this role should possess over 10 years of experience as a General Insurance leader. Strong expertise in both underwriting and claims is required, coupled with a demonstrated ability to drive profitable and sustainable business performance within the insurance sector.
