Junior Backend Engineer

About the Role

TawanTech is seeking a Junior Backend Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, Riyadh Province. This full-time role involves developing, maintaining, and supporting reliable backend applications and services. The successful candidate will contribute to enabling business capabilities and digital products, ensuring adherence to established engineering and security standards.

Role Purpose

The primary purpose of this position is to build and maintain robust backend infrastructure. This includes translating technical requirements into functional software and ensuring seamless integration with various systems, all while upholding high standards of code quality and security.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot within a microservices architecture.
• Translate functional and technical requirements into working, tested software solutions.
• Integrate services with databases, internal platforms, and external partner systems.
• Work with event streaming and messaging technologies such as Kafka and MQ under guidance.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code in alignment with engineering standards.
• Perform unit testing, debugging, and defect resolution for developed applications.
• Apply secure coding practices, including authentication, authorization, and data protection requirements.
• Support deployment and monitoring on containerized platforms (OpenShift/Kubernetes) through established CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and squad ceremonies.
• Support production troubleshooting efforts under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Maintain relevant technical documentation for developed services and applications.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development practices and application quality.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of experience in a relevant backend engineering role. A strong understanding of Java and Spring Boot is essential, along with familiarity with microservices architecture and secure coding practices.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with databases and API integration.
• Knowledge of event streaming and messaging systems (Kafka, MQ).
