About Bechtel and the Project

Bechtel Corporation has a significant global history in complex airport projects, including major roles in GCC international airports such as King Khalid, King Fahad, Dubai, Hamad, and Muscat. Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company is currently providing project management consultancy services for the development of the King Salman International Airport in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This state-of-the-art airport is designed to accommodate up to 120 million travelers by 2030 and 185 million by 2050, with a cargo capacity of up to million tons by 2050. Bechtel's PMC services encompass three new terminals: Terminal 6 (approximately 450,000m2, 20mppa capacity), the Iconic Terminal (approximately 1M m2, 40-45 mppa capacity), and a Private Aviation Terminal.

The Role of Logistics Construction Manager – Airside

The Logistics Construction Manager – Airside, a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is responsible for leading the planning and execution of logistics operations across the airside areas of this new airport development. This includes runways, taxiways, aprons, and associated infrastructure currently under construction. The role is central to ensuring the efficient, safe, and timely movement of materials, equipment, and workforce across airside work zones, supporting multiple contractors and construction packages within a large-scale, multi-phase environment. This position directly impacts the critical path for airport commissioning and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of the airside logistics strategy, aligning with construction sequencing and project milestones.
  • Manage all airside logistics activities, including access planning for construction of runways, taxiways, aprons, and airfield lighting systems.
  • Oversee the movement of heavy construction equipment across expansive and controlled zones, and coordinate internal traffic management plans.
  • Establish and maintain temporary infrastructure such as roads, haul routes, staging areas, laydown areas, lighting, signage, fencing, and dust control.
  • Ensure on-schedule construction progress by providing coordinated logistics support and maintaining high operational efficiency and safety standards.
  • Prevent congestion and delays through proactive management of equipment access and material deliveries, and maintain uninterrupted internal access and mobility.
  • Collaborate with construction managers, contractors, and civil/airfield engineers to align logistics with field operations and construction sequencing.
  • Monitor logistics compliance with safety, environmental, and security requirements relevant to the construction phase.
  • Supervise a team of logistics coordinators, subcontractors, and third-party logistics providers operating in the airside zone.
  • Provide regular logistics reporting, forecasts, risk assessments, and weekly/monthly dashboards tracking key logistics KPIs to project stakeholders.
  • Support commissioning and ORAT planning by aligning logistics strategy with final phase airside activation requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Logistics, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in construction logistics, including 5+ years in a leadership role on large-scale infrastructure or airport projects.
  • Direct experience managing logistics for civil/airfield construction, including runways, taxiways, utilities, or large earthworks.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex logistics operations involving multiple contractors, vendors, and jurisdictional authorities.
  • Familiarity with airport security protocols, vehicle screening processes, and traffic planning.
  • Experience working within or adjacent to active airport environments is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in logistics planning tools, scheduling software (*, Primavera P6), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of relevant safety, environmental, and DOT regulations.

Leadership and Collaboration

The role requires strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills to build a collaborative logistics culture across airside teams. This includes fostering safety, transparency, and delivery-focused performance, and establishing clear logistics protocols for material delivery, equipment staging, and workforce access across large open zones and remote areas of the site.

Location and Work Type

This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and is integral to the successful development of the King Salman International Airport. The Logistics Construction Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the project's operational readiness and timely commissioning.
