About the Role

The American International School Riyadh is seeking a licensed full-time Lower Elementary School Homeroom Teacher for the 2027-2028 school year. This position is based in Riyadh, Riyadh, and requires 2-5 years of experience. The role focuses on fostering inquisitive, independent, and resilient learners who inspire positive change within their communities.

Teacher Responsibilities

• Understand and implement student safeguarding practices, including mandatory reporting and participation in inquiries regarding any AIS-R community member.
• Support the school in creating a positive, nurturing, and engaging environment that addresses the individual needs of each student.
• Design and deliver lessons, content, and materials in line with AIS-R’s standard curriculums and teaching standards, utilizing various learning mediums to meet diverse learning preferences.
• Demonstrate knowledge of student individual strengths, interests, motivations, and abilities, planning coherent instruction to challenge and support student learning and well-being.
• Maintain effective classroom control, organization, and management.
• Manage student behavior, keep records of behavior, and monitor progress.
• Create a caring, respectful, student-centered environment conducive to developmentally appropriate learning.
• Plan and prepare coherent learning plans with clearly defined outcomes aligned with subject level standards and benchmarks using the Understanding by Design framework.
• Systematically gather, analyze, and utilize all relevant data to measure and facilitate student academic progress.
• Clearly communicate learning targets and assessment criteria.
• Prioritize instructional strategies aligned with AIS-R’s Learning Principles.
• Assess student learning with clear criteria aligned with learning goals.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community members to advance the school's mission and enhance student learning.
• Organize, plan, and run clubs/after-school activities as part of AIS-R’s co-curricular program.
• Engage in the school’s professional development program and professional growth & evaluation process.
• Partner with families through ongoing communication, conferences, and accurate reporting of student progress, honoring divisional reporting timelines/expectations.
• Honor AIS-R policies and procedures and maintain a high standard of personal conduct.

Terms of Employment

The salary for this position is assigned from the Faculty salary schedule, with a contract term of 190 days. Compensation will be determined based on the established Faculty salary schedule. Contractual hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, extending to 5:00 pm on Tuesdays.

Additional Responsibilities

Faculty members are expected to fulfill duties that extend beyond the regular school day. These commitments include participation in after-school activities (ASAs) and after-school learning (ASL). Physical Education teachers are also required to coach at least one sport annually within AIS-R’s Athletics program.

Professional Growth and Evaluation

Performance is appraised through the AIS-R Professional Growth and Evaluation framework, in accordance with school policy, by the designated Supervisor.
