The Opportunity: Manager, Risk & Crisis Communications

Red Sea Global is seeking a Manager, Risk & Crisis Communications to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is essential for strengthening RSG’s ability to anticipate, prepare for, and effectively respond to potential risks and crises across its diverse destinations. The Manager will lead communications planning, cross-functional coordination, and ensure effective stakeholder engagement during critical moments, while embedding best practice crisis preparedness throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead ongoing risk assessments for Red Sea Global projects, factoring in geopolitical, economic, environmental, reputational, and operational risks, and prioritize key identified risks.
  • Monitor emerging issues and external developments through various tools and industry sources, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide risk management priorities.
  • Develop and oversee crisis communications strategies, playbooks, and escalation processes.
  • Lead cross-departmental coordination to ensure alignment of crisis response procedures with brand positioning and RSG values.
  • Organize workshops, simulations, and media training, including specialized crisis media training for executives and spokespeople.
  • Prepare comprehensive crisis communication materials, such as holding statements, press releases, FAQs, and social media content.
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of risk and crisis communication projects, ensuring timely execution and alignment with organizational objectives, including project planning, resourcing, timelines, and reporting.
  • Coordinate with RSG’s Risk, Legal, Operations, and Corporate Affairs teams to ensure integrated planning and response.
  • Track KPIs and report progress to senior leadership, providing actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Partner with internal communications to cascade clear, consistent messaging during crises, drafting internal updates, leadership briefings, and Q&As for employees and key departments.
  • Identify and map priority stakeholders (*, PIF, Royal Court, government entities, investors, partners, local communities) and develop tailored communication strategies for engagement during crises.
  • Prepare leadership with briefing materials and talking points for high-stakes interactions.
  • Lead post-crisis reviews to capture lessons learned, produce debrief reports, and formulate strategic recommendations for executive leadership.
  • Benchmark against international best practice to ensure RSG remains at the forefront of risk and crisis communications.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in risk and crisis communications, demonstrating the ability to manage complex communication projects and strategies. This role requires 5-10 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity, with a proven track record in crisis preparedness, response, and stakeholder management.

Organizational Practices and Continuous Improvement

The Manager, Risk & Crisis Communications will adhere to all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure controlled and consistent work execution. This includes assisting in the preparation of accurate and timely functional MIS statements and reports. The role also involves applying safety, quality, and environmental management policies to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, high-quality service delivery, and a responsible environmental attitude. Furthermore, the Manager will contribute to identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in company and department systems, processes, and practices, aligning with international best practices for business process enhancement, cost reduction, and productivity.
