Manager EHS

About the Role

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a Manager EHS to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position requires an experienced professional to oversee and manage all Environmental, Health, and Safety aspects for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, ensuring compliance with local and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and project-specific safety plans for BESS projects.
• Ensure compliance with applicable local regulations, client requirements, and international EHS standards.
• Conduct risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), and method statement reviews.
• Oversee safety during BESS installation, battery container handling, electrical works, testing, commissioning, and energization.
• Ensure appropriate controls for electrical hazards, arc flash, lockout/tagout (LOTO), working at height, lifting operations, and confined spaces.
• Develop and implement emergency response plans for battery thermal runaway, fire, smoke, electrolyte leakage, and other battery-related hazards.
• Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, commissioning teams, subcontractors, and clients on EHS matters.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, toolbox talks, and EHS training programs.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor subcontractor safety performance and ensure compliance with project EHS requirements.
• Maintain EHS documentation, inspection reports, incident records, safety statistics, and compliance registers.
• Monitor waste management, environmental protection, spill prevention, and hazardous material handling.
• Lead EHS meetings, safety campaigns, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure adequate emergency equipment, fire protection systems, first-aid facilities, and evacuation arrangements are available at site.
• Prepare and submit periodic EHS performance reports to project management and clients.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidates for this role should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety management, particularly within projects involving Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves working on-site to manage EHS aspects of BESS projects, collaborating with various project stakeholders.
