Manager EHS

About the Role

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a Manager EHS to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures, specifically for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and project-specific safety plans for BESS projects.
• Ensure compliance with applicable local regulations, client requirements, and international EHS standards.
• Conduct risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), and method statement reviews.
• Oversee safety during BESS installation, battery container handling, electrical works, testing, commissioning, and energization.
• Ensure appropriate controls for electrical hazards, arc flash, lockout/tagout (LOTO), working at height, lifting operations, and confined spaces.
• Develop and implement emergency response plans for battery thermal runaway, fire, smoke, electrolyte leakage, and other battery-related hazards.
• Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, commissioning teams, subcontractors, and clients on EHS matters.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, toolbox talks, and EHS training programs.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor subcontractor safety performance and ensure compliance with project EHS requirements.
• Maintain EHS documentation, inspection reports, incident records, safety statistics, and compliance registers.
• Monitor waste management, environmental protection, spill prevention, and hazardous material handling.
• Lead EHS meetings, safety campaigns, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure adequate emergency equipment, fire protection systems, first-aid facilities, and evacuation arrangements are available at site.
• Prepare and submit periodic EHS performance reports to project management and clients.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in EHS management, particularly within projects involving Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Work Environment and Location

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves working on-site to ensure EHS compliance and safety across BESS project operations.
