About AtkinsRéalis and the Opportunity

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Materials Inspector to join our team in Riyadh. This full-time position is designed for professionals with 0-1 years of experience who are dedicated to ensuring the quality and compliance of construction materials, specifically within roadwork projects.

Purpose of the Role

The Materials Inspector plays a critical role in verifying that all roadwork materials meet specified standards and project requirements. This involves comprehensive inspection, sampling, and testing activities, alongside meticulous control over material traceability, storage, acceptance, and associated documentation to uphold project quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming materials, including aggregates, asphalt, concrete, steel, and geotextiles, against approved specifications and standards.
  • Witness field and laboratory tests such as sieve analysis, Atterberg limits, compaction/density tests, slump tests, concrete cube tests, and Marshall tests.
  • Verify critical documentation including batch tickets, delivery notes, mill certificates, and calibration certificates.
  • Monitor the proper storage, segregation, and protection of materials on site.
  • Check asphalt mix temperature, gradation, and binder content during paving operations.
  • Ensure conformance to Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements (MS), and Project Quality Plans (PQP); raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate lot-wise material acceptance records and traceability documentation.
  • Coordinate effectively with third-party laboratories and the QA/QC team regarding test schedules and results.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 0-1 years of experience in materials inspection, sampling, and testing, preferably within roadwork projects.
  • Solid knowledge of ASTM, BS, and EN testing methods relevant to construction materials.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory and field equipment, along with understanding of material acceptance criteria.

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Strong documentation and report writing skills.
  • Understanding of asphalt plant Quality Control (QC) and concrete batching processes.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and a strong compliance mindset.
