About the PMO Manager Role at alfanar
alfanar is seeking a dedicated PMO Manager to oversee its project portfolio. This full-time position is based in Riyadh and requires a professional with 5-10 years of experience in project management and portfolio oversight. The role is critical in ensuring project alignment with strategic objectives and the successful delivery of business value.
Portfolio Management and Strategic Alignment
The PMO Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire project portfolio, ensuring its performance and alignment with the organization's strategy and objectives. This includes monitoring benefits realization, supporting project prioritization, and ensuring value delivery across all initiatives.
PMO Governance and Oversight
Establishing and maintaining robust PMO policies, frameworks, and standards is a key responsibility. The role involves ensuring consistent application of project management methodologies, monitoring compliance with governance requirements, and driving continuous improvement of PMO processes and tools. This also includes monitoring project health, risks, issues, and dependencies across the portfolio, and overseeing portfolio-level change control.
Reporting and Executive Support
The PMO Manager will consolidate portfolio reports and dashboards, providing management with critical insights and recommendations for effective decision-making. This includes supporting governance boards and steering committees, and facilitating portfolio review meetings.
Leadership and Operational Responsibility
This role demands strong leadership in HR proficiency, including the ability to cultivate high performers and manage underperformers effectively, ensuring fair treatment and performance-based assessments. The PMO Manager must take full responsibility for their operations, anticipate problems, and make timely, proper decisions. A key aspect is transforming corporate goals into actionable business plans, monitoring their execution, and controlling budgets for optimum cost efficiency. Developing organizational structure, ensuring job descriptions are current, and promoting business process improvements, including automation, are also integral to the role. Quality is paramount, and managers are expected to act accordingly, adapting to new techniques and technologies while ensuring a safe, secure, and legal work environment.
Qualifications and Competencies
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a relevant field, coupled with 6 to 10 years of work experience. Essential technical and functional competencies include:
