The Role: Power System Planning Expert

EGI is seeking a Power System Planning Expert to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves contributing to the analysis, definition, and enhancement of power system planning methodologies. The expert will play a crucial part in addressing challenges related to massive renewable energy and battery energy storage system (RES & BESS) integration, demand evolution, and the optimization of transmission investments.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities for this position will be determined based on individual competencies and expertise, and typically include:

• Analyzing and defining power system planning principles.
• Defining and validating power system models.
• Enhancing methodologies for planning power systems amidst significant RES & BESS integration, demand changes, and transmission investment optimization.
• Mastering the links with technico-economic models to identify critical operating points.
• Conducting steady-state analysis, including load flow, short circuit calculations, and hosting capacity assessments.
• Performing dynamic stability analysis, covering frequency, transient, and voltage stability.
• Supporting the analysis and evaluation of grid reliability and security, such as capacity calculation, balancing, and operational planning.
• Writing comprehensive reports to present analysis results.
• Assisting the company’s business development teams by identifying and pursuing opportunities, fostering client relationships, and developing proposals.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Master's degree in Engineering.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Power System Planning, encompassing master planning, pre-feasibility studies for new transmission investments, RES system integration, BESS optimization, and sizing state-of-the-art technological solutions.
• Proficiency in power system simulation tools, specifically PowerFactory and PSSE.
