The Role of Principal Product Designer

Noon is seeking a Principal Product Designer to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time, individual contributor role focused on owning the student experience, primarily within the student application. The Principal Product Designer will be responsible for taking a problem from initial student conversation through to the shipped screen, and for determining subsequent design priorities. This position operates without a direct design team or a manager dictating the roadmap, offering a direct line to leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research with students in Saudi schools through interviews, focus groups, and classroom observation, translating insights into design decisions and validating them.
• Design specifically for the Saudi Arabian context, understanding and applying local patterns that may differ from generic "best practice" app designs.
• Manage the student app end-to-end, including flows, information architecture, prototyping, final UI, and handover to engineering.
• Develop engaging student activities, including games and head-to-head duels, ensuring that learning outcomes are prioritized.
• Lead and contribute to building an experimentation practice, including forming hypotheses, creating variants, agreeing on metrics, and analyzing results.
• Utilize AI tools for design generation, prototyping, and production to focus efforts on research and decision-making quality.
• Collaborate directly with product managers and engineers in short loops to facilitate fast releases.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of experience in product design, with a focus on individual contribution at a senior or principal level.
• Demonstrated ability to own and shape the entire student experience within a product.
• Experience in designing for specific cultural contexts, particularly in Saudi Arabia.
• Proficiency in end-to-end app design, from flows and information architecture to UI and engineering handover.
• Experience with experimentation practices, including hypothesis testing and metric analysis.
• Familiarity with AI tools for design processes.
