About the Role

alfanar Group is seeking a QA/QC Civil Engineer to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position requires 2-5 years of experience and focuses on monitoring civil construction activities to ensure strict compliance with approved drawings, specifications, ITPs, and quality requirements. The role involves conducting site inspections, managing quality documentation, and coordinating with various project teams to resolve quality issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and inspect all civil construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and project requirements.
  • Conduct inspections for reinforcement, formwork, concrete, masonry, waterproofing, backfilling, finishing works, and structural elements.
  • Coordinate and raise Work Inspection Requests (WIRs), Material Inspection Requests (MIRs), and testing requirements with the Consultant.
  • Review and verify the implementation of approved Method Statements, ITPs, checklists, and Quality Control Plans.
  • Monitor concrete pouring activities, including pre-pour inspections, concrete delivery, slump, temperature, sampling, curing, and post-pour inspection.
  • Ensure proper control of construction materials and verify compliance with approved material submittals and technical requirements.
  • Identify defects and nonconformities and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Prepare, issue, and follow up on Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Site Observation Reports (SORs) until satisfactory closure.
  • Monitor workmanship and provide technical guidance to site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate with Site, Technical, Survey, Laboratory, and Consultant teams to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Review laboratory and third-party test reports and ensure required testing is completed and compliant.
  • Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports, test reports, and quality documentation.
  • Participate in mock-ups, material inspections, testing, commissioning-related inspections, and final inspections.
  • Identify recurring quality issues and contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Perform planned activities to meet operational and development targets as per delivery schedules, utilizing resources effectively.
  • Solve related problems and escalate complex operational issues as needed.
  • Ensure quality requirements are met to develop effective quality control and processes, including specifications for products or activities.
  • Coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, procedures, and seek automation opportunities.
  • Comply with relevant policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, quality, and environmental management procedures and controls.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Good knowledge of civil construction methods and quality control procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, reinforcement, formwork, concrete testing, and repair methods.
  • Knowledge of waterproofing, masonry, plastering, tiling, screed, earthworks, backfilling, and compaction.
  • Ability to read and interpret IFC/shop drawings, specifications, material submittals, and method statements.
  • Good knowledge of ITPs, WIR/MIR, NCRs, SORs, inspection checklists, and quality documentation.
  • Familiarity with ACI, ASTM, and project-specific specifications.
  • Ability to identify concrete defects, perform root cause analysis, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Ability to review laboratory/third-party test results and verify survey, levels, dimensions, alignment, and tolerances.
  • Understanding of key quality risks including congested reinforcement, large concrete pours, hot-weather concreting, and construction sequencing.

Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, specifically within quality assurance and quality control roles.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within a dynamic construction environment. The role requires close coordination with various site and technical teams.
