About the Role

Nathan & Nathan is seeking a Senior Accountant on behalf of a reputable client within the Pharmaceutical Biotech/Medical or Life Sciences industry. This contract role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and is open to candidates currently residing in Riyadh. The position requires prior experience in a multi-national company and offers a competitive salary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively create and document a high volume of journal entries with minimal errors and review by supervisors.
  • Appropriately discuss and defend work and analyses to various stakeholders.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for external auditors and other personnel, preparing analyses and schedules, addressing questions, and applying knowledge to resolve routine problems.
  • Interact with peers in other functions to gather information for analyses and disseminate accounting information.
  • Serve as a technical resource and provide guidance to more junior employees within the accounting function.

Core Accounting Duties

  • Perform and potentially supervise accounting sub-functions and the preparation of reports and statistics detailing financial results.
  • Coordinate schedules, activities, and reports with other internal departments.
  • Establish and maintain operating procedures within the context of existing internal controls and company policies.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of journal entries (with appropriate supporting documentation) for month-end close and accounting transactions.
  • Maintain, reconcile, and resolve Profit & Loss (P&L) and balance sheet ledger accounts.
  • Manage the reporting requirements for statutory and corporate compliance, including VAT/WHT, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Prepare analyses and schedules for local management as well as internal and external auditors.
  • Own the accounting processes to support balance sheet accruals, provisions, allocations, reclassifications, and other accounting transactions.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 3+ years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Experience in a comparable multi-national organization is required, with experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prior experience with processes such as financial reporting, tax, Accounts Receivable (AR)/Credit, and Accounts Payable (A/P).
  • Strong knowledge of integrated Enterprise systems, ideally SAP, and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • CPA or equivalent qualifications are considered a plus.

Location and Compensation

This is a contract position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role offers a monthly salary ranging from SAR 20,000 to 25,000.
