About the Role

Qwaed Al-Emmar (QAE) is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role offers two distinct tracks: Technical Office or Site Execution. The ideal candidate will have experience in large-scale hospitality, commercial, and residential projects and be capable of delivering accurate, coordinated work within a contracting environment. Applicants must currently reside in Saudi Arabia and be available for immediate joining.

Responsibilities for Civil Technical Office Track

  • Review civil and structural drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bills of quantities; identify discrepancies and constructability issues.
  • Prepare and review shop drawings, reinforcement details, bar bending schedules (BBS), and construction details in accordance with approved designs.
  • Coordinate structural elements, openings, sleeves, embedded items, levels, and architectural and MEP interfaces.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs and material requirements; support progress quantity verification and assessment of approved changes.
  • Prepare and follow up on RFIs, technical submittals, material approvals, and consultant comments.
  • Prepare method statements and relevant inspection and test documentation.
  • Review supplier and specialist subcontractor drawings and technical data.
  • Identify temporary works, formwork, shoring, or structural modification issues requiring specialist designs and approvals before execution.
  • Coordinate with site teams, procurement, suppliers, and subcontractors to resolve issues and meet project schedules.
  • Maintain drawing revisions, submission registers, and approval records.
  • Prepare as-built drawings and handover documents using verified site information and approved changes.

Responsibilities for Civil Site Execution Track

  • Plan daily activities, organise work fronts, and supervise foremen, subcontractors, and site teams.
  • Verify drawings, materials, manpower, equipment, access, and site readiness.
  • Check setting-out, dimensions, levels, reinforcement, formwork, concrete cover, openings, and embedded items.
  • Implement approved method statements, temporary works requirements, and inspection and test plans.
  • Inspect materials and workmanship, prepare inspection requests, attend consultant inspections, and close observations and non-conformances.
  • Arrange and follow up on specified soil compaction, concrete, and waterproofing tests.
  • Monitor concrete delivery, placement, compaction, curing, and repairs against approved requirements.
  • Coordinate with the technical office, surveyors, architectural and MEP teams, suppliers, and specialist subcontractors.
  • Track quantities, productivity, materials, and progress; prepare short-term plans and reports.
  • Address constraints through agreed recovery actions and minimise waste and rework.
  • Record approved changes and provide information for as-built drawings and handover.
  • Monitor site safety and occupational health, brief workers, and check PPE, housekeeping, access, and working practices.
  • Identify excavation, formwork, lifting, work-at-height, and equipment hazards; stop unsafe activities and escalate issues to management.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the selected track, including at least 3 years within Saudi Arabia.
  • Experience on large-scale hospitality, commercial, and residential projects, with clear personal responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of Saudi construction practices, applicable Saudi Building Code requirements, and project specifications.
  • Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and coordinate across disciplines.
  • Ability to prepare technical correspondence and reports in English.
  • Demonstrated accuracy, accountability, follow-up, problem-solving, and deadline management skills.
  • Currently based in Saudi Arabia and available for immediate joining and full-time work in Riyadh.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering building projects or major packages through multiple stages to handover.
  • Experience in both technical office and site execution.
  • Familiarity with Revit Structure, BIM coordination, and Navisworks.
  • Relevant training in quality inspection, construction safety, or planning.
