About the Role

Abniya Innovative is seeking a Site Mechanical Engineer – Wet Utilities & Irrigation (Infrastructure) to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time position focused on the supervision and execution of mechanical infrastructure works, ensuring adherence to project specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily execution of potable water networks (HDPE PN16 / uPVC), including trenching, bedding, laying, jointing, thrust blocks, valve chambers, fire hydrants, service connections, and backfilling.
  • Oversee storm drainage installation, encompassing GRP, uPVC, and reinforced concrete pipework, catch basins, manholes, gully leads, connection details, and outfall structures.
  • Manage sewerage/gravity drainage works and associated chambers.
  • Supervise irrigation works, including mainlines and sub-mains, solenoid valves, decoders and controllers, disc filtration units, irrigation tank and pump sets, and drip and bubbler distribution networks.
  • Verify setting-out, invert levels, gradients, cover depths, and clearances against IFC drawings and utility corridor allocations.
  • Direct and monitor the performance of installation subcontractors and site labor, verifying daily output against program targets.

Technical and Quality Assurance

  • Follow up on Material Approval Requests (MAR) for all mechanical materials, fittings, and equipment until Consultant approval.
  • Review method statements, Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), and technical submittals.
  • Raise and track RFIs / Technical Queries and follow up on outstanding IFC drawings and design clarifications.
  • Review IFC and shop drawings for constructability, utility clash, and specification conformance; report discrepancies to the Project Manager in writing.
  • Prepare and verify as-built records for all mechanical scope.
  • Raise Inspection Requests (IR/WIR) and accompany the Consultant on inspections.
  • Execute and document all statutory and specified testing, including hydrostatic pressure testing, disinfection and chlorination, bacteriological clearance, deflection/mandrel testing, testing of drainage lines, and irrigation commissioning.
  • Close NCRs and site observations within the required response period.

Commercial and Quantity Support

  • Maintain accurate quantity records for all executed mechanical works and support joint measurement with the Supervision Consultant.
  • Report immediately, in writing, any divergence between executed/instructed quantities or materials and the contract BOQ.
  • Support the QS team with take-offs, interim payment application backup, and variation substantiation.
  • Provide technical evaluation of supplier and subcontractor quotations; raise material requisitions in the Company ERP with correct specification, quantity, and required-on-site dates.

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Reporting

  • Enforce HSE requirements for excavation, shoring and trench support, confined space entry, lifting, hydrotesting, and work near live utilities; ensure permits to work are in place.
  • Submit daily/weekly progress reports, manpower and equipment returns, and maintain contemporaneous site records (photographs, diaries, delay events).

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience is required for this role.
