Track & Third Rail CAD Operator

About the Role

ALSTOM Transmission & Distribution is seeking a Track & Third Rail CAD Operator to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position involves supporting the design and integration of Track & 3rd Rail systems for the Riyadh Metro Line 2 Extension Project. The role requires 5-10 years of experience in CAD drafting, BIM modeling, or technical engineering functions on railway infrastructure projects.

Role Context and Contribution

The CAD Operator will play a key role in producing, coordinating, and maintaining high-quality CAD drawings and BIM models throughout the project lifecycle. This involves close collaboration with various teams including Signalling, Telecommunications, Civil, MEP, Traction Power, and Construction partners/contractors. Responsibilities include producing and updating Track & 3rd Rail design deliverables, managing model coordination activities, and supporting multidisciplinary interface management, while ensuring compliance with project BIM and document control requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce and update Track & 3rd Rail CAD drawings, layouts, sections, and installation details using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Develop and maintain 3D BIM models for Trackwork and 750V DC Third Rail systems.
• Manage design information within the Common Data Environment (CDE) and apply project codification and document control processes.
• Coordinate Track & 3rd Rail interfaces with Civil Works, MEP, Signalling, Communications, and Traction Power disciplines.
• Perform model federation, clash detection, and clearance verification using Navisworks.
• Support multidisciplinary design coordination and integration meetings.
• Review and update design models based on engineering comments, site conditions, and project requirements.
• Ensure consistency between drawings, BIM models, and approved design documentation.
• Manage design revisions, configuration updates, and as-built record incorporation.
• Support Construction & Delivery teams by providing updated drawings, model extracts, and technical drafting support during installation and testing activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 5 years of experience in CAD drafting, BIM modeling, or technical engineering functions on railway infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of Trackwork and 3rd Rail systems, including interfaces with Civil Works and other railway systems.
• In-depth working knowledge of Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and ProjectWise.
• Experience producing railway infrastructure drawings and BIM models for Metro, Tram, LRT, or Mainline projects.
• Experience in multidisciplinary design coordination and railway project integration.
• Ability to perform clash detection, model reviews, and implement design modifications as required.
• Understanding of BIM processes, data management, and Common Data Environment workflows.
