About the Role

Orient Castle Contracting Company is seeking a Logistics Officer to join their team in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position will be based in the Tabuk region, with responsibilities extending to Al Wajh and Tabuk cities. The role is crucial for ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of construction materials and equipment to project sites.

Role Overview

The Logistics Officer will be responsible for the execution, coordination, and monitoring of deliveries for construction materials, equipment, and plant machinery to various project sites. The primary objective is to ensure all site deliveries arrive on schedule, within budget, and in strict adherence to safety regulations and site access limitations, thereby preventing any disruption to construction progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Delivery Coordination: Schedule and dispatch daily deliveries of construction materials, including steel, cement, MEP components, and fit-out materials, to project sites according to the construction schedule and material requests.
  • Heavy Equipment & Machinery Movement: Coordinate the mobilization and demobilization of heavy machinery, tower cranes, and site equipment between yards and active construction sites.
  • Customs & Specialized Cargo: Process necessary documentation and manage customs clearance for specialized construction materials or heavy equipment, ensuring compliance with local import regulations and tracking specialized transport permits.
  • Site Access & Safety Compliance: Liaise with Site Managers and HSE teams to confirm delivery vehicles meet site safety criteria and that offloading zones and specialized equipment are prepared for safe operations.
  • Material Tracking & Discrepancies: Monitor inbound shipments to identify potential delays impacting project timelines. Inspect delivered materials with the site storekeeper to document any damages, shortages, or non-compliance with purchase orders.
  • Supplier & Transporter Coordination: Act as a liaison with local transport vendors, heavy haulage providers, and freight forwarders. Verify transporter invoices against site delivery notes and agreed rates before forwarding to the finance department.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Civil/Industrial Engineering, or Business Administration.
  • Experience: 5 to 8 years of dedicated logistics experience specifically within the Construction, Contracting, or Fit-out industry.
  • Local Knowledge: A solid understanding of Saudi Arabian regulations pertaining to heavy vehicle movement restrictions, municipality permits, and platforms such as FASAH and SABER.

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • Construction Logistics Expertise: In-depth knowledge of handling requirements for various construction materials and heavy equipment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in construction-focused ERP systems (*, SAP, Oracle, Candy/RIB) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Resilience: Ability to manage stress effectively and handle unexpected site delays, vehicle breakdowns, or shifting project priorities.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication abilities in both English and Arabic for effective coordination with project managers, site storekeepers, and external drivers.
  • HSE Awareness: Basic understanding of construction site safety regulations related to material lifting and offloading protocols.
