Officer EHS Role Overview
The Officer EHS role is a full-time position based in Tabuk, Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, requiring 5-10 years of experience. This position is integral to ensuring the health, safety, and environmental compliance across construction, operation, and maintenance activities on site. The Officer EHS will monitor daily activities, conduct inspections, and support the implementation of Veolia's EHS standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor daily site activities to identify and report unsafe conditions, acts, or potential hazards.
- Conduct routine site checks to ensure good housekeeping, welfare facilities, and safe working conditions.
- Provide on-the-spot coaching and corrective guidance regarding employee safety behavior.
- Report all incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Support incident investigation, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety awareness sessions on job-specific hazards and emergency procedures.
- Deliver EHS induction for new employees, subcontractors, and visitors, covering site hazards, emergency plans, and Veolia Life Saving Rules (LSR).
- Assist in preparing, reviewing, and updating Health & Safety Risk Assessments and Environmental Aspects & Impacts Registers.
- Coordinate the preparation and issuance of Permits to Work (PTW) for high-risk activities, ensuring compliance and communication.
- Perform routine inspections of sites, facilities, equipment, and machinery to verify EHS compliance.
- Ensure all machines and tools are inspected before daily work, checking for valid color coding, inspection tags, certificates, and operator licenses.
- Conduct monthly inspections of emergency equipment and report findings.
- Participate in internal and external EHS audits as directed by the EHS Manager.
- Ensure strict implementation and compliance with all Veolia Life Saving Rules and High Risk Management Standards (HRMS).
- Coordinate the issuance, inspection, and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ensuring proper usage and compliance.
- Support emergency response activities and assist in conducting emergency drills.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance with EHS requirements and coordinate on PTW, risk assessments, and safety briefings.
- Ensure compliance with environmental management requirements, including waste segregation, storage, and disposal.
- Maintain and safeguard all EHS documentation and prepare weekly and monthly EHS reports.
- Promote a positive safety culture and support continuous improvement initiatives.
QHSE Commitments
- Comply with applicable ethics and legislation as per the Veolia Code of Conduct policy.
- Ensure applicable QHSE Policies, standards, requirements, and procedures are applied and maintained.
- Liaise with internal or external interested parties during QHSE audits and inspections.
- Ensure all work activities are controlled using QHSE procedures, risk assessments (or LMRA), and valid work permits.
- Ensure the implementation of customer satisfaction requirements.
- Report all incidents, including near misses, unsafe conditions, and unsafe actions.
- Maintain documented information as evidence of compliance with the QHSE Management System.
