Field Engineering E&I/DCS

About the Role

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Field Engineering E&I/DCS professional for a full-time position on the Ar Rjum Project. This role involves managing construction engineering tasks within the electrical, instrumentation, and controls disciplines, ensuring adherence to relevant codes and standards. The position is based in Taif and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and requires over 10 years of experience.

Project Overview

The Ar Rjum Project is a greenfield gold project located approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh, and about 26 km south of Al Mouwayh. It includes three open-pit mining operations, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure such as water and power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, and accommodation villages.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with engineering teams on constructability and design issues related to commodity installations and work sequencing.
• Provide field engineering support to superintendents and personnel to meet cost and time schedules, verify materials, equipment, and quality, and ensure design requirements are met.
• Develop work plans, coordinate material take-offs and requisitions, perform and document inspections, report progress, and resolve design and construction conflicts for electrical commodity installations and testing.
• Ensure procedural compliance, material control, and comprehensive documentation of inspections for completed work.
• Direct or perform the preparation of quantity listings for field-purchased material and equipment, and initiate requisitions for field material purchases.
• Support the preparation of construction drawings and schedules, design of temporary construction facilities, and ensure the preparation of as-built drawings and other job plans.
• Support the planning and delivery of construction materials and equipment, ensuring proper warehousing and storage for environmental protection.
• Review specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals, and technical data to provide site assistance and advice.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in field engineering, specifically within electrical, instrumentation, and controls disciplines.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret design and vendor drawings and specifications.
• Experience in managing cable installations and terminations.
• Proficiency in conducting field verification of materials.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to perform detailed inspections and produce accurate, clear, and concise documentation.

Work Conditions

The role requires physical ability to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs. This may involve extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders and scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, navigating uneven surfaces, and maneuvering in small and/or confined spaces.
