The Opportunity: Parachute Fabrication Technician Supervisor
BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a Parachute Fabrication Technician Supervisor to join its team in Taif. This full-time role operates within the Typhoon Maintenance Organisation, where the successful candidate will deputise for a senior company employee. The supervisor will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of the Parachute Fabrications Shop, ensuring operational compliance, driving continuous improvement, and fulfilling line management duties commensurate with the position. This role is critical in supporting the Salam Project's success against contracted Operational Readiness (OR) and Key Performance Measurements (KPM) for Maintenance Support Services.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The Parachute Fabrication Technician Supervisor holds significant responsibilities across safety, compliance, customer support, and continuous improvement:
- Uphold a safety-first approach, implementing measures and guidelines to protect personnel, product, and operations, while actively promoting Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) and Product Safety & Environment (PS&E).
- Ensure strict adherence to BAE Systems Operational Framework, Life Cycle Management (LCM) practices, Maintenance & Continuing Airworthiness (M&CA) Mandates, Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE), and Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) Logistics Management Regulations (LMR) to meet all contractual obligations.
- Enhance customer satisfaction by providing robust support for maintenance, airworthiness, and safety, while actively seeking and implementing continual improvements.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement (CI) throughout the maintenance organisation, encouraging innovative ideas and initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in maintenance processes.
- Provide functional direction and guidance, exercising duty of care, welfare, and health & safety responsibilities for personnel.
- Ensure the effective delivery of all activities as specified in the shop component repair plan.
Specific Duties
The role involves a range of specific operational and managerial duties, including:
- Reviewing maintenance practices and challenging current methods to identify potential improvements within the organisation.
- Recognising and escalating any malpractice that could affect the airworthiness or safety of assigned components or personnel to the Senior Maintenance Manager.
- Ensuring the availability of necessary facilities and resources in accordance with company policies to fulfil duties and contractual obligations.
- Monitoring personnel standards to identify negative trends, non-conformities, or motivational deficiencies.
- Accountable for all personnel development reports within direct and indirect line management.
- Fostering a trusting work environment where employees understand and adhere to the company’s Code of Conduct.
- Providing training, consolidation, and counterpart development activities to RSAF and BAE Systems personnel.
- Ensuring all tasks are completed within designated timeframes to support Forward Maintenance and SMU activities.
- Maintaining operational readiness of shop equipment and scheduling necessary calibrations.
- Ensuring the correct tooling and approved data are available, and raising appropriate media for any deficiencies in approved data.
- Reporting and monitoring damage or deficiencies to equipment and infrastructure using specified media.
- Ensuring all personnel undertaking maintenance within their area of responsibility are duly authorised.
- Maintaining anti-FOD surveillance, reporting potential hazards, and conducting regular oversight checks of the shop and components.
- Ensuring all maintenance tasks meet the highest quality standards, including accurate recording of maintenance carried out.
- Conducting oversight checks to ensure high standards of shop husbandry.
- Escalating any forecasted planning deficiencies or delivery/FDD issues with consumables and PPE to the primary or secondary line manager promptly.
- Holding 2nd Signature authority and being able to disperse required responsibilities.
- Maintaining competency currency for Martin Baker Parachute Fabrications pack authorisations.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates for this supervisory position are expected to possess demonstrated experience in parachute fabrication and maintenance, coupled with proven leadership capabilities. A strong understanding of aviation maintenance regulations and quality standards is essential. The role requires maintaining competency currency for Martin Baker Parachute Fabrications pack authorisations.
