About the Opportunity

Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts is seeking a dedicated Controller Cost to join its team in Medina, Almadinah Almunawwarah. This full-time role is central to implementing property-wide strategies that ensure products and services meet or exceed the expectations of both brand target customers and employees. The Controller Cost provides essential financial expertise to successfully execute brand service strategies and initiatives, with a primary focus on maximizing return on investment.

Strategic Financial Planning and Analysis

• Analyze financial data and market trends to inform strategic planning and decision-making processes.
• Assist in forecasting sales against expenses and developing comprehensive annual budget plans.
• Compile, analyze, and monitor actual sales performance against projected sales.
• Contribute to developing strategies for profit improvement, including estimating costs and benefits, and exploring new business opportunities.
• Analyze differences between actual budget wages and forecasted wages to enhance budget planning efficiency.
• Implement a system of appropriate controls to manage business risks and advocate for sound financial decision-making to strengthen competitive advantage.

Leadership and Team Development

• Lead, influence, and encourage accounting teams using strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating honesty and integrity.
• Clearly communicate financial goals and owner priorities to subordinates.
• Provide effective leadership by assigning clear accountability backed by appropriate authority and holding staff responsible for successful performance.
• Oversee human resource activities within the department, ensuring fair and consistent administration of property policies.
• Ensure new hires participate in the department’s orientation program and receive appropriate training to successfully perform their job.
• Create appropriate development plans for team members based on their individual strengths, development needs, career aspirations, and abilities.

Financial Reporting and Compliance Oversight

• Ensure Profits and Losses are documented accurately, verifying that costs are properly matched to revenue and recorded in the correct accounts.
• Submit financial reports in a timely manner, ensuring all delivery deadlines are met.
• Monitor all applicable taxes, ensuring they are current, collected, and/or accrued in compliance with regulations.
• Oversee internal, external, and regulatory audit processes, reviewing audit issues for accuracy and ensuring necessary corrections are made.
• Ensure strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and local operating procedures (LSOPs).

Stakeholder Relations and Advisory

• Understand and proactively meet the financial needs and ROI expectations of key stakeholders, including owners, corporate, and guests.
• Anticipate and address owner needs, involving ownership in key financial decisions.
• Leverage strong functional leadership and communication skills to influence the executive team and property strategies.
• Advise the General Manager and executive committee on existing and evolving operating and financial issues.
• Attend owner meetings to provide context and explanation for financial results, communicating financial concepts in a clear and persuasive manner.

Qualifications and Experience

• A 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or a closely related major.
• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of progressive experience in a cost control or financial management role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
