About the Role

King Abdullah University of Science & Technology (KAUST) is seeking an Energy Transition Educational Initiatives Lead. This full-time role is central to developing human capital within the PSE division, directly supporting KAUST’s institutional objectives and its Energy Mission. The specialist will translate advanced energy research into practical learning experiences, bridging academic theory with industry needs to equip Saudi students and professionals for roles driving the Kingdom's sustainable future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, execution, and optimization of specialized energy transition courses covering Renewables, Energy Storage, and CCUS.
  • Design and deploy practical courses, workshops, and lab-based training setups to translate academic theory into applied engineering skills.
  • Integrate globally recognized vocational and technical standards into student learning pathways and certification programs.
  • Serve as the primary academic liaison to KAUST Academy for curriculum design, faculty engagement, and technical infrastructure.
  • Supply specialized academic content and lab-based frameworks for the Academy's national delivery platforms.
  • Co-design scalable, revenue-generating educational models with the Academy, ensuring academic rigor and research integration.
  • Conduct market studies on local and global energy sectors to align curriculum with workforce demands.
  • Prepare technical reports and diagnostic studies on evolving skill requirements, technology localization, and energy market forecasting for KSA.
  • Monitor training program effectiveness and deliver KPI reports on student impact, certification rates, and alumni career trajectories.
  • Act as the primary liaison for divisional outreach, engaging national stakeholders to expand applied training.
  • Co-design and execute customized, industry-aligned training models and Executive Education workshops for policymakers and senior leaders.
  • Collaborate with KAUST Academy on national marketing campaigns, participant recruitment, and establishing scalable educational models.
  • Integrate digital tools and advanced instructional technologies into energy curricula.
  • Support PSE faculty in adopting modern teaching methodologies and classroom technologies.
  • Collaborate on quality assurance and academic self-assessments to meet global energy education standards.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • 5-10 years of progressive experience encompassing advanced energy research, technical development, and renewable energy-oriented research.
  • Proven track record in designing, delivering, and scaling comprehensive educational, bootcamp, or vocational training programs.
  • Direct, hands-on experience in establishing, operating, and maintaining physical training facilities or labs.
  • Demonstrated experience authoring technical reports, conducting market research, and leading outreach initiatives with external industry and government partners.
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment or managing complex inter-departmental collaborations.

Key Competencies

  • Deep subject matter expertise in renewable energy, energy storage, CCUS technologies, and related fields.
  • Exceptional instructional design capabilities with a focus on bridging academic research with applied vocational training.
  • Solid analytical capability for market research and authoring technical/strategic reports on workforce readiness.
  • Exceptional cross-functional coordination skills to engage stakeholders across academic and administrative environments.
