Head of Legal Saudi GCC Cluster (MENA)

About the Role

DHL is seeking a Head of Legal for the Saudi GCC Cluster (MENA) to be based in Al Khobar, Eastern Region. This full-time position serves as the senior legal representative for DHL across Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Yemen. The role involves leading the legal function and providing strategic legal advice to senior management and all DHL business units within the cluster.

Role Purpose and Context

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that legal risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated while supporting business objectives and commercial growth across the Saudi GCC Cluster. Operating within a matrix organization, the Head of Legal will collaborate with regional and global Legal Services teams, business leaders, and external partners to implement legal strategies, establish effective processes, and protect DHL’s legal and commercial interests in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the legal function across assigned countries and business units, aligning legal strategies with regional and global business objectives.
• Advise senior management on key legal matters and risks.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, monitor legal developments, and develop strategies for risk identification and mitigation.
• Advise on, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts with customers, suppliers, and third parties, protecting DHL’s interests.
• Oversee litigation, claims, and other legal proceedings, managing external legal counsel and associated costs.
• Partner with management teams across DHL’s business units (Supply Chain, eCommerce, Express, Global Forwarding) to provide practical legal advice and contribute to strategic decisions.
• Lead and develop a team of legal professionals, fostering collaboration and ensuring consistent, high-quality legal services.
• Establish effective legal processes, ensure transparency and control of legal costs, and collaborate with auditors and regulatory authorities.
• Provide leadership or support on specialist legal matters including competition law, employment, real estate, M&A, data protection, and tax disputes.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in legal service delivery, including the use of legal technology and knowledge-sharing tools.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 20 years of relevant legal experience.
• Demonstrated experience in leading legal functions and providing strategic legal advice.
• Proven ability to manage legal risks and ensure compliance within a complex regulatory environment.
• Experience in commercial contracts, litigation, and dispute management.
• Strong leadership skills with experience in team development and management.

This is a full-time position based in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, requiring leadership within a matrix organizational structure and collaboration with regional and global teams.
