About the Role

AWS EMEA SARL (Saudi Arabia Branch) is seeking a Business Development Manager, Oil & Gas, to join its Energy team. This full-time position is based in Dammam and focuses on modernizing operations and accelerating digital transformation for energy companies across the Middle East. The role involves developing regional strategies for the energy sector, identifying opportunities where data and AI can generate insights, and driving complex pursuits from initial contact to signed deals.

Role Context and Focus

The Middle East is home to significant energy companies with mega-scale upstream assets, integrated refining and petrochemical complexes, LNG export terminals, and extensive pipeline networks. These organizations are investing in digital transformation and require partners who understand their business across the full energy value chain. This role is central to AWS's efforts to build deep capabilities in this region, covering exploration, drilling, production, refining, petrochemicals, pipelines, and LNG. The Business Development Manager will work across AWS account teams, ISVs, and systems integrators to shape solutions that align with operational realities, bridging IT/OT convergence, industrial data platforms, subsurface data management, and advanced analytics with commercial models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities with energy customers, independently developing and executing strategies aligned with regional priorities.
  • Engage VP and C-level leaders at major energy companies, building trusted advisory relationships and connecting operational challenges with AWS solutions.
  • Create and deliver technical content such as whitepapers, reference architectures, and solution briefs for use cases including digital twins and carbon management.
  • Build jointly with partners, customer account teams, and industry deployment and systems integrators to co-develop solutions for refining and pipeline operations.
  • Build and deliver technical presentations, workshops, and proof-of-concept demonstrations tailored to energy industry use cases such as OSDU, reservoir simulation, industrial IoT, digital twins, and advanced process control.
  • Collaborate with and develop teammates, elevating partner capabilities, and sharing best practices.
  • Proactively connect customers with the appropriate AWS specialists, partners, and resources to accelerate their cloud journey.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline, tracking progress and providing accurate forecasts to leadership.
  • Represent AWS Energy at regional industry events, conferences, and executive briefings across the Middle East.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience in the energy industry.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the full energy landscape, from exploration, drilling, and production through to refining, petrochemicals, pipelines, and LNG.
  • Experience with operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) convergence in industrial environments.
  • Ability to understand and discuss concepts such as DCS, historians, OSDU, reservoir management, turnaround planning, and pipeline SCADA modernization.
  • Proven commercial instincts and drive to help energy companies succeed with cloud technology.

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong industry credibility and a personal network within the energy sector.
  • Ability to operate with autonomy, identify untapped opportunities, and build a business pipeline.
  • Proficiency in developing reference architectures and technical content grounded in operational use cases.
  • Capability to build relationships with VP-level engineering and digital leaders.
  • Mentoring skills to support teammates and elevate partner capabilities.
