About the Opportunity

Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) is seeking an Obstetrics/Gynecology Subspecialist to join its dedicated team in Dhahran. This role is crucial for providing specialized clinical services focused on the diagnosis and management of gynecologic disorders and obstetrics for JHAH patients. The Subspecialist will operate within the Mother and Child Health Institute, delivering comprehensive care to both inpatients and outpatients.

Role and Reporting Structure

The Obstetrics/Gynecology Subspecialist is a staff member of the Mother and Child Health Institute, responsible for offering clinical care and consultative services. This position reports directly to the Unit Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Chair of the Mother and Child Health Institute. The role involves consistent daily interaction with patients, their family members, various staff, nurses, allied health professionals, administrators, and other physicians across JHAH facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centered care and consultations to inpatients and outpatients within the area of subspecialty expertise.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures, including basic Obstetrics/Gynecology Ultrasound, and therapeutic procedures in accordance with the highest standards of care and within delineated privileges.
  • Complete all medical documentation and reports in a timely and professional manner.
  • Develop collegial relationships and work collaboratively with other physicians, nurses, allied health providers, and administrators across JHAH departments and districts.
  • Actively participate as a member of multi-disciplinary teams and share in clinical responsibilities according to operational need, including in-house or call-in duties (evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays) as scheduled or during emergencies.
  • Cover the Delivery Room, which includes admitting patients, reviewing history, planning action, performing spontaneous and operative deliveries when medically indicated, and interacting with midwives.
  • Respond to emergency requests for assistance from colleagues, and formal/informal consultations from physicians in other Services and emergency rooms at all JHAH facilities.
  • Actively participate in monthly Unit, Division, Department, and Hospital staff, clinical, education, and research meetings.
  • Contribute to the educational activities of the Division/Unit by attending Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs, and fostering the education or professional development of trainees or other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary, interdepartmental, and performance and quality improvement activities, including committee service within JHAH.
  • Promptly respond to all JHAH queries regarding medical documentation, coding, patient concerns, or risk management.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of administrative policies, medical practice procedures, clinical guidelines, and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Graduation from an approved medical school with an MD/******
  • Completion of one year of internship in a recognized training program.
  • Completed residency training in Obstetrics/Gynecology.
  • Board Certification by the Saudi, American Board, Canadian Royal College of Physicians, or an equivalent recognized body.
  • Certification in the Obstetrics/Gynecology Specialty that satisfies JHAH Credentials & Privileges requirements.
  • A Fellowship or specialized training that satisfies JHAH Credentials & Privileges requirements in one of the following Obstetrics/Gynecology Subspecialties:
    • Maternal Fetal Medicine
    • Gynecological Endocrinology & Infertility
    • Gynecological Oncology
    • Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery
    • Other Subspecialty as recognized by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
  • A minimum of three years of experience post subspecialty and board certification.
  • Must hold a valid license to practice medicine.

Required Skills and Professional Attributes

  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to group practice within a medical environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of medical ethics, with particular reference to maintaining the confidentiality of professional work.
  • A personality that inspires confidence and trust in both patients and colleagues.
  • Strict adherence to the By-Laws, Rules, and Regulations of JHAH.

Work Environment

This position is based at Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) facilities in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The Subspecialist will work within a collaborative and demanding medical environment, requiring participation in a rotating schedule that includes in-house and on-call duties to ensure continuous patient care and operational coverage. The role demands active engagement with a diverse team of healthcare professionals dedicated to delivering high-quality services.
