About the Commercial Director Role

Tamauzy Company for Training & Consulting is seeking an experienced Commercial Director to lead the commercial strategy, business development, contracts, tendering, and strategic partnerships for a client in the construction sector. This full-time, on-site position is based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and reports to the Chief Executive Officer. The role is integral to achieving sustainable revenue growth and strengthening the company's market position.

Key Responsibilities

The Commercial Director will be responsible for developing and executing the company's commercial strategy. This includes overseeing business development, client relationship management, and the establishment of strategic partnerships. The role involves managing the tendering process, commercial pricing, contract negotiations, and ensuring robust commercial governance. A key focus will be identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, maintaining a strong project pipeline, and ensuring the successful preparation of competitive bids and commercial proposals.

Further responsibilities include managing contract administration, claims, and variation processes. The Commercial Director will monitor commercial performance, coordinate commercial aspects of projects, and ensure compliance with corporate governance and best commercial practices. This position also entails developing commercial policies and procedures, preparing business plans and forecasts, and leading a high-performing commercial team to achieve strategic objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field is required; an MBA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive commercial experience within the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience in business development, commercial strategy, tendering, pricing, contract management, and strategic partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, commercial negotiations, claims management, and FIDIC principles.
  • Proven success in securing major projects and cultivating long-term client relationships across government, semi-government, and private sectors.
  • Solid commercial and financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and performance management.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable.
