About the Project Engineer Role

Atlas Copco is seeking a Project Engineer to join its Machine Vision and Surface Inspection Solutions business. This full-time position is based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and focuses on the successful execution and delivery of customer projects. The role requires a professional with 2-5 years of experience in a relevant field.

Role Scope and Contribution

The Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing projects from initial requirements analysis and solution design through installation, commissioning, and final handover. This position involves close collaboration with customers, sales teams, engineering specialists, and service personnel to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to established quality standards. The role contributes to the implementation of inspection and automation technologies across various industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage Machine Vision and Surface Inspection projects throughout their lifecycle, from initiation to final acceptance.
• Analyze customer manufacturing, assembly, and inspection processes to define technical requirements and project objectives.
• Develop application concepts and propose tailored inspection and automation solutions.
• Conduct feasibility studies, application testing, and proof-of-concept (POC) evaluations.
• Coordinate project activities with customers, suppliers, internal engineering teams, and other stakeholders.
• Design, configure, and optimize vision systems, including cameras, optics, lighting, software, and automation interfaces.
• Prepare project documentation, technical specifications, layouts, schedules, and progress reports.
• Oversee system installation, commissioning, calibration, testing, and validation at customer sites.
• Identify, track, and mitigate project risks while ensuring adherence to timelines and deliverables.
• Support factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and customer sign-off processes.
• Provide technical guidance and support during project implementation, resolving issues through troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Deliver customer training on system operation, maintenance, and best practices.
• Collaborate with Sales and Business Development teams during pre-sales activities, technical discussions, and customer presentations as needed.
• Ensure compliance with company quality, safety, and project management standards.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and contribute to customer satisfaction.

Candidate Profile and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in project engineering, particularly within machine vision, surface inspection, or industrial automation. A strong technical background is essential, along with demonstrated ability to manage complex projects from conception to completion. The role requires proficiency in analyzing technical requirements, designing solutions, and providing technical support and training.
