About the Role

Amazon Saudi Arabia (ex-Souq) is seeking a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to join its team in Jeddah. This full-time role involves implementing and maintaining critical IT infrastructure at the home site, reporting directly to the IT Manager. The engineer will serve as an escalation point for IT Support Technicians and remote teams, building technical depth across networking, systems administration, and infrastructure management.

Role Context and Impact

The Operations – Fulfilment Center and Logistics – division is central to the Amazon customer experience, ensuring timely delivery of products. OpsTechIT plays a vital role in enabling the business to meet customer promises by maintaining robust and efficient IT infrastructure. This position contributes to operational excellence through hands-on troubleshooting, proactive maintenance, and comprehensive documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain IT infrastructure across software and hardware environments, ensuring networking and computing systems remain available during production hours.
• Configure and troubleshoot networking fundamentals, including routers, switches, wireless APs, structured cabling, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and TCP/IP.
• Liaise with global Subject Matter Expert (SME) teams for the installation and maintenance of networking and server infrastructure, adhering to Amazon standards.
• Execute site-level projects, acting as a single point of contact, creating and reviewing change management requests, and validating technical execution.
• Manage equipment availability through continuous improvement initiatives and cost reduction, identifying root causes of operational issues and process inefficiencies.
• Provide technical direction and support to IT Support Technicians, mentoring and training them, and acting as a technical contact for remote support teams.
• Support customers across multiple buildings and remote sites, representing IT in site meetings, and acting as an escalation point for business and support functions.
• Manage contractor and supplier relationships, communicating technical issues and ensuring adherence to Amazon standards.
• Contribute to a paid on-call schedule for high-severity incidents and produce weekly reports covering metrics and work performed.

Qualifications and Experience

• 0-1 years of experience in IT infrastructure, networking, or systems administration.
• Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain IT infrastructure, including both software and hardware.
• Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting networking protocols and devices.
• Experience with project execution, change management, and technical validation.
• Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to identify root causes and drive continuous improvement.
• Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Jeddah, requiring close collaboration with business teams, colleagues, and remote support teams. The role involves maintaining IT equipment at optimum performance, meeting departmental KPIs and SLAs, and performing site audits to ensure adherence to Amazon IT and Health & Safety guidelines. The successful candidate will also contribute to a paid on-call schedule for high-severity incidents.
