About the Role

SAMI Thales is seeking a System Engineer specializing in the Shikra system to support the Maintenance & Technical Support Department (MTSD) and the client during a maintenance contract. This full-time position is based in Makkah, with primary work locations in Jeddah and Makkah. The role requires 5-10 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice and assistance across all aspects of the Shikra system specialty.
• Monitor and analyze factors impacting operational availability, Shikra system performance, and support chain efficiency, recommending and implementing corrective actions locally and in coordination with the team in France.
• Evaluate the performance of Shikra systems, data handling, and communication equipment.
• Monitor Built-In Test (BIT) equipment/software, analyze results, and recommend improvements.
• Perform intermediate-level field maintenance as required within the specialty.
• Conduct diagnostic checks, specialized maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of radar and C2 systems to ensure operational readiness.
• Diagnose and isolate complex electronic problems involving hardware, software, and Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) using various fault isolation procedures and test equipment.
• Support Mobile Maintenance Team (MMT) functions, including travel to remote sites for software maintenance, troubleshooting, and On-the-Job Training (OJT).
• Ensure Shikra system readiness by communicating with Contractor Experts in Europe to resolve malfunctions when local solutions are insufficient.
• Support Saudi technicians through knowledge transfer and expertise sharing, providing advice and assistance.

Technical Expertise and Knowledge

Candidates should possess comprehensive experience with radars, including Primary/Secondary Radars, all aspects of Radar plot extractors, and interface equipment. Essential technical knowledge covers antennas, processors, computers, monitoring systems, data transmission, plot extractors, and power systems.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or Radar Technology.
• Proven experience in configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting complex systems.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of knowledge and experience in the operational and maintenance aspects of PSR/SSR Radars, C2, and communication equipment. This experience should encompass installation, testing, integration, upgrades, and modifications.
• Experience working within complex environments, including multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary, and matrix organizations, with direct customer interactions.
• A good understanding of wider Contractor support services.

Language and Communication Skills

Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in French is considered an advantage. Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship management skills are essential for this role.
