About the Role

IHG Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Commis Chef for the Employees Cafeteria in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves assisting in daily meal preparation and maintaining kitchen standards within a hotel environment. The role is based in the Makkah region, covering cities such as Taif and Makkah.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and cooking daily meals according to established menus and recipes.
• Ensure food quality, consistency, and proper portion control for all dishes.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and food preparation areas.
• Adhere to food safety standards and HACCP procedures at all times.
• Ensure proper storage, labelling, and rotation of food items to minimize waste.
• Assist with stock control and contribute to efforts to reduce food waste.
• Support the Chef in daily kitchen operations and ensure timely meal service.
• Ensure compliance with hotel policies and safety standards within the kitchen.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High school certificate; culinary training is considered an advantage.
• Previous experience in a similar position is preferred, with 0-1 years of experience required.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen hygiene practices.
• Understanding of food safety standards and HACCP principles.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and perform well under pressure.
• Good communication skills and a positive professional attitude.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as required by operational needs.
