About the Role
The Luxury Collection is seeking a Director of Finance to join their team in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position will serve as the property's strategic financial business leader, responsible for developing and implementing financial strategies to meet and exceed brand and customer expectations, while maximizing return on investment. The role requires a proactive approach to financial planning, execution, and reporting within the hospitality sector.
Strategic Financial Leadership
This position functions as the property's strategic financial business leader. The role champions, develops, and implements property-wide strategies that deliver products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of the brand's target customer and property employees. It provides the financial expertise to enable the successful implementation of the brand service strategy and brand initiatives while maximizing the return on investment. Furthermore, the Director of Finance creates and executes a business plan aligned with the property and brand's business strategy, focusing on the execution of financial activities and the delivery of desirable financial results.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops strategies to improve profit, including cost-benefit analysis and exploration of new business opportunities.
- Analyzes financial information, forecasts sales against expenses, and creates annual budget plans.
- Compiles, analyzes, and monitors actual sales against projected sales, and analyzes variances between actual and forecasted wages for efficient budget planning.
- Identifies underlying principles, reasons, or facts by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
- Develops, executes, and implements new business plans.
- Creates the annual operating budget for the property and provides analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost-saving and productivity opportunities.
- Implements and ensures a strong accounting and operational control environment to manage business risks, safeguard assets, and improve operations and profitability.
- Analyzes financial data and market trends, and leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive annual business plan aligned with company and brand strategic direction.
- Produces accurate forecasts to enable operations to react to business changes.
- Oversees internal, external, and regulatory audit processes.
- Manages communication with owners effectively, understanding their priorities and strategic focus.
- Advises the General Manager and executive committee on operating and financial issues.
- Manages property working capital and cash flow in accordance with brand standard operating procedures and owner requirements.
- Ensures Profits and Losses are documented accurately, monitors taxes, and submits reports in a timely manner.
- Develops and supports the achievement of performance, budget, and team goals, and reviews audit issues to ensure accuracy.
- Generates and provides accurate and timely reports and presentations.
- Reconciles balance sheets and ensures the P&L is accurate, with costs properly matched to revenue and recorded in the correct accounts.
- Ensures compliance with management contracts, reporting requirements, and operating procedures.
- Ensures team members are cross-trained, property policies are administered fairly, and new hires receive appropriate orientation and training.
- Creates development plans for team members based on their strengths, development needs, and career aspirations.
- Conducts performance reviews and participates in hiring activities as appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience. Educational requirements include either:
- A 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or a related major, with 3 years of experience in finance and accounting or a related professional area.
- A Master's degree in Finance and Accounting or a related major, with 1 year of experience in finance and accounting or a related professional area.
Team Leadership and Stakeholder Management
The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others, advocating for sound financial and business decision-making with honesty and integrity. The Director of Finance will communicate strategic goals clearly to subordinates, leverage leadership skills to influence the executive team and property strategies, and provide excellent leadership by assigning clear accountability backed by appropriate authority. This includes understanding and meeting the needs of key stakeholders such as owners, corporate, and guests, and communicating financial concepts persuasively and clearly.
Work Location and Type
This is a full-time position located in Makkah, with responsibilities potentially extending to Jeddah. The role operates within The Luxury Collection brand standards.
