Eng. Salah Mohammed Alzughaiby Group is a leading engineering and supervision consultancy based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The group provides professional project management, engineering, and construction supervision services for major developments across Saudi Arabia, including projects in Jeddah and Makkah.

Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to join our supervision consultancy team. This full-time role focuses on a major high-rise building project. The successful candidate will lead the planning and project controls function from the Consultant’s/Engineer’s perspective, ensuring robust review and monitoring of project schedules and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the review and monitoring of the Contractor’s Baseline Programme, Updates, Recovery Programmes, and Look-Ahead Schedules.
  • Monitor and verify actual progress against the approved baseline, identifying delays, slippage, and critical schedule risks.
  • Analyze Planned vs. Actual Progress, S-Curves, KPIs, productivity, and resource deployment.
  • Review Contractor recovery and mitigation programmes, assessing the adequacy and realism of proposed corrective measures.
  • Monitor the interface between Engineering, Procurement, and Construction, including critical submittals, approvals, long-lead items, and material deliveries.
  • Identify potential delays and provide early warnings and planning-based recommendations to the Project Management Team.
  • Prepare and review weekly/monthly progress reports, dashboards, S-curves, critical path reports, and management presentations.
  • Coordinate with the Contractor’s Planning Team and the Consultant’s Project Manager, Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, and discipline teams.
  • Provide planning input for contractual correspondence, delay assessments, variations, and Extension of Time submissions, as required.
  • Maintain schedule risk, delay, and mitigation trackers and follow up on corrective actions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Architecture, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience, with 5-10 years total experience required. Significant experience on major high-rise or large-scale building projects is preferred.
  • Proven experience working with a consultant, supervision consultant, PMC, or major contractor.
  • Experience in reviewing Contractor programmes and project controls deliverables is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of construction planning and project controls.
  • Experience in Saudi Arabia or the GCC is highly desirable.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PMI-SP, AACE, or equivalent are an advantage.

Required Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge in planning and project controls.
  • Sound planning judgment.
  • Excellent Primavera P6 skills.
  • Ability to challenge and assess Contractor submissions professionally and with contractual awareness.

Work Location

This position is based in Makkah, with projects potentially in Jeddah and Makkah.
