Role Overview

Lucid Motors is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Engineer (Battery & Electronics) to join its team in King Abdullah Economic City, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves taking a lead position in designing new Powertrain equipment. The Staff Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate closely with various cross-functional teams, including Logistics, Manufacturing Operations, Facilities, Product Engineering, and New Product Introduction, to ensure the proper design and installation of Powertrain equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical efforts for teams engaged in complex equipment engineering development.
  • Develop manufacturing processes for Powertrain lines.
  • Prepare and procure all necessary items for station readiness during Powertrain line launches.
  • Work collaboratively with all disciplines involved in specifying and engineering Powertrain equipment.
  • Support the project team through all stages of Powertrain line development, from conception to launch.
  • Efficiently implement engineering solutions on manufacturing equipment based on product design changes.
  • Utilize analytic problem-solving skills, including methodologies such as 8D, Six Sigma, or DOE.
  • Employ 3D modeling and simulations to validate equipment designs.
  • Work with layout engineering to prepare and optimize Powertrain line layouts.

Technical Expertise

The role requires familiarity with equipment control systems, equipment I/Os, and basic machine coding logic. Candidates should possess experience with a range of manufacturing equipment and processes, including:

  • Robotics, end of arm tooling, pick and place automation, position sensors, material handling, fluid dispensing, deflection analysis, vision systems, conveyor, and laser cleaning/metrology.
  • Battery lines: Enclosure, Pack, Module. This includes GD&T, CMM, OMM, leak testing, adhesive dispensing, accelerated curing, Hipot testing, Dielectrics, End of line testing (HV/LV), AGVs, ASRS equipment, Vision with automated Fiducial offsets, Laser welding, Wire bonding, bar code reading, vision system inspection, potting, HV testing, and box cutting automation.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Electronics) or Communications Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years in Powertrain Equipment/Manufacturing/Process Engineering.
  • Experience in automotive Powertrain equipment design/sustaining is mandatory.
  • Ability to influence outcomes and drive initiatives within complex environments.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally at various levels, both internally and externally.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Catia, and Delmia.

Work Environment and Travel

This is a full-time position based in King Abdullah Economic City, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The role requires significant travel, with approximately 40% domestic and international travel expected.
